This is the coolest looking machine to come along in quite a while. Lots of knobs and sliders, all of which seem to be of very high quality. The overall look and feel is quite solid. Lots of unique features such as a "Motion Controler", which allows the recording of knob & slider movements. A morphing feature that can be linked to either time or a specified number of measures. Also a very nice arpeggiator and a "Phrase recorder". The filters, of which there are two, can be set for HP, LP, or BP. They can be configured in series, split, or parallel. They sound very analoge. In addition to the expected Mod and pitch wheels, there is a very handy ribbon controler. There is also an onboard equalizer that can act as either Graphic or Parametric. The built in Reverb, Chorus, Delay, and Overdrive are a little weak but usable. Perhaps the coolest feature is the display. It jumps to a graphic display of the appropriate parameter when a knob or slider is moved; very cool! There are several OS glitches for which a fix has been promised in a soon to be released firmware update. Overall, a very useful piece of gear. Lots of fun to play. Comments About the Sounds: The factory set doesn't really do the synth justice. With a little tweeking, it is possible to come up with some really great sounds. Somewhere between Nord and JD8000 |
