I felt there needed to be some distinction between the different Roland System 100's. This is not the 100m, which is pictured elsewhere, but the earlier Roland System 100 Model 101. One component of a 5 piece system, and unfortunately, the only piece from the system that I own. I've had this synth for about two days, and oh my God, it kicks ass. I've owned Korg MS series, Roland SH series, Odyssey's etc, etc, and this little baby is just so much fun to tweak out. It's more flexible than any synth I've owned, because it's semi-modular, more so than the MS-20/10. Awesome for spaced out effects, as well as extremely warm bass and leads. The filter is great, and even though it's only a single osc. synth, without a sub-osc, it sounds huge. PICK ONE UP!!! Best $650 I ever spent. Can't wait to get the 102 expander.

Comments About the Sounds:
Extremely warm sounds. Because it's semi-modular, you can get things super spacey. The sounds can actually have a very vocal quality at times. I've actually had it sounding like a child crying. Really weird = super cool!

(Thanks to Doug Bell for this info.)
