Troy writes:
Following the AX-1 and AX-1B the AX-7 has a few new helpful features. It has an added LED display for easier navigation and operation and a D-beam controller. The D-beam can control/tigger a single note or a chord, also it has a very simple arpeggiator feature. I find it most useful when used to control expression to create slow attacks or releases on a tone. The Expression Bar transmits one or both midi messages, Modulation and Aftertouch. The AX-7 also has a Data Entry knob to send contiuous controller messages. The touch controller transmits only pitch bend messages and can be turned either on or off. The user interface takes a while to get used to (esp. when using the edit features) but the LED diplay does help in navigation and adjustments. You can save your patches (128 in all) via midi BULK BUMP. The AX-7's keyboard actually has a nice feel for non-weighted synth keys. There are no clicks or noises like the Roland XP-10 and RS-5. The weight of the AX-7 is about 7lbs. The AX-7 makes a great alternative mobile keyboard controller! GM/GM2/GS compatible
