The Super Jupiter is Roland's attempt to drag the Jupiter synths screaming into the 90's - and squeeze them into a studio rack. Due to its 19 inch size, the Super Jupiter certainly looks humble when compared with the huge Jupiter 8 - but it still makes the same warm and wild sound as its older brother. As a healthy bonus, the MKS-80 also features MIDI and both velocity and pressure sensitivity, all of which the Jupiter 8 was sadly lacking. And should you miss all those knobs, buttons and sliders, there is the additional MPG-80 Super Jupiter Programmer unit. Even though its fairly high price tag, I believe that the Super Jupiter is worth every penny. If you ever need those abstract and crisp synthetic sounds, the Super Jupiter will be there to deliver them. Comments About the Sounds: Beefy and warm. |
