This is trictly a synthesizer, no acoustic instruments here. It has wavesequencing that can create sounds that are hugely complex, when you add vector synthesis to this you have an extremely powerful synthezizer. It has been critisised for not having resonant filters. The built in effects are extremely powerful and can be configered either in series or in parallel. As a master keyboard, it can split the keyboard up by zones and velocities and send on up to 8 different MIDI channels. The design of the actual machine is absolutely brilliant, it has a very high "POSE" factor ! At the moment, nearly all synths are the same, all being based on having lots of samples in the memory, the Wavestation is refreshingly different, and if you can get to grips with the complex programming system then it can make some amazing noise

Very good keyboard. The difference between this and a sound effect keyboard is the sequencer options.
