.....But generally unstable and unplayable. The oddy is a performance synth which turns out not only the weird and wonderful, but also clean, powerful performance leads with pitchbend and vibrato. The vcs is more experimental, but not usable in a live situation. They are chalk and cheese.

I was going to plum for a black/orange later version, but I saw mine with both pedals, case, midi retrofit and patch overlays for 595. Cosmetically it's in great condition. Aren't I lucky. The sounds from this machine will blow the roof of your house off. The Odyssey's in my opinion are more enjoyable than the Minimoog. A friend of mine has played both and agrees with me. Mine is just for home use. I've had no problem's with it.

MJ, I to love the Odyssey. One of my fav synths of all time. I do, however, disagree with your statements about the Oddity. Gforce bought my black and gold mk2 off me to use as a basis of their research. I've listened to their sound clips and it sounds pretty faithful to me. It's also ultra reliable and stays in tune ( the Odyssey was pretty good at that as well!) The Odyssey is very old nowadays. Mine was starting to develop certain 'conditions' as most are and I was glad to move on. The sliders , in particular, were getting stiff and were starting to crackle. The new Oddity is very user friendly in this respect. A white faced Odyssey is a prized position, though I would advise that you treat one with extreme love and never gig it. Buy an Oddity package if you need to hit the road. It sounds pretty good and won't let you down.

I have never understood the opinion of some people about this synth it is one of the most versatile and best sounding mono/duophonic synths ever made. compare the features on this synth compared to the minimoog, anyway a absolute classic for techno and produces some of the weirdest sonic mayhem immaginable the uk price reflects this i bought mine in 2000 for 500 a white face mk1 i could sell it today(i have had offers)for over a grand,my advice don't knock this awesome synth untill you have heard it you will be very surprised.
