I will not buy the MPC4k until it is completely bugfree. It also seems to crash now and then. My MPC3k never (I mean NEVER!) crashed. Very nice machine though this new one. I heard Akai is still working to get it perfect. I still don't know why they use wav-file as standard and used an Intel processor (i.o. motorolla).

hey man, this thing is great: has a ridicoluos memory, no knobs on the interface except some buttons and a slider, good big pads -yes, i have to admit- ,the effects are nothing special and it's a sort of nightmare to put on and off them live, the same for filters, if you sample a synth sound it's a nightmare again (or it's impossible...) to spread it pitched across a keyboard using the 16 knobs...........................................................................................................BUT..attention please, 4, 3, 2, 1..:

this thing costs around 3000EURO, am i wrong??? woooooooooowwwwww, what a great affair.

The MPC 3000 is a hot machine no question. I would pick this over the 2000 or 2000 Xl anyday. I have had 10 years of experience with this line so samplers. But the MPC 4000.....It has the best features of any MPC ever made and than some. I sent Akai an email a few years ago to tell them want I think should be added to their next generation MPC's. Everything I asked for was included: Balanced in and Outs, ADAT digital I/O option, expansion slots for Hard Disk or CDRW's, full blown sampler, a newly designed effects board, 2 MIDI ins and $ MIDI outs, USB ports......This unit is now available for sale at selected places.

The Akai MPC 3000 is a hot machine. The Akai 2000XL gives you some enhance features. Zone edits and converting to .wav & time stretching is the Sh*t. For some industry standard real Phat sounds you must check One Stop Beats & Bangin Beats for some sure shots. Check the sites. www.onestopbeats.com and banginbeats.com
