Just got mine in the mail yesterday.

I'm too lazy to figure out how to actully record a sample (Didn't come with a manual), so any help would be aperciated.

As for first impresions (Messing around with demo disks), i'm pretty sure this is going to help out in more ways then one. Very nice.

Great value for the $225 I paid. Works like a charm--nice and easy. Not a whole lot of features but it does just what you want it too. It makes GREAT samples and does perfect looping. Has a nice disk-drive too, so you can store tons of samples to disk. This thing is just what I needed. Simple and headache-free so I can concentrate on creating music instead of struggling with manuals and technicalities.

Sorry, I meant 2 MIDI INS!!! Thats important!!! Thanks Alex for making me aware of that bit of dislexia. Yes, 2 MIDI INS is very cool if you have 2 different input sound sources. The SO1 has an input switch on the front panel so you can select between your 2 different inputs. Very cool feature. Also the 1 MB memory can be expanded up to 2MB but that can cost a bit more than most folks want to pay. But 1 MB is enough if you are using disks for storage of samples anyway.

Arp - and to anyone whom it may concern - IT really would help if you got ur info right before posting a review, so as not to confuse people! I bet arp never even touched one of these babies! Yes, I reviewd the thing in the first place. I love it, simple, but effective.

But why does everyone always go on about how many midi outs stuff has got? I only use the one on my master keyboard!! Just use In's, and thru's.

Hey ARP---that is incorrect information on the S01

It is indeed a SAMPLER and a very good one tho it is very simple in many ways. I have 2 of them and they definately DO samples. You must be thining of the Akai 1000PB or something, but the SO1 is definately a sampling machine. I create all kinds of samples with mine and doing so is extremely easy compared to more complex machines. I love the SO1 due to its simplicity. It is a 16 bit sampler with 8 banks --sampling freq is 32 kHz. It will sample any sound I put into it and then clearly play them back. The SO1 has 8 voice polyphony too so it is quite versatile. It also has an 8 Xs over-sampling filter. It will Trim, Loop, Transpose and store to disc. Has 2 MIDI outs which really helps. Its a good little machine and people are picking them up for only $200. Well worth that price IMHO. I have other samplers, but cannot stop using the SO1 due to its ease of use and great user interface. Its built like a tank!!
