well, i think people need to realize that this sampler isn't supposed to be the all-purpose sampler. its a PHRASE sampler, its more for putting songs together/creating drum loops/etc, not making funky shit happen :P
Its great for its purpose, MUCH better than the sp-202/su-10 bullshit thats flyin around these days :>

2 out of 5 because you need to buy a different sampler if you have this one. I sold it for 450 dollars. Not really a great sampler at all. No timestretch or anything. Really a dull sampler. Get something like an EMU esi 4000 or akai s3000 . . or wait for the s5000 and 6000 by akai which look very very very promising and they'll be way cheap.

Great sampler for the price. Probably the best under $500(excluding older used samplers i.e. S900/S950)...Nice sequencer and the expandable ram is a real nice feature. The disk drive is nice and makin loop-based songs is real easy with the beat loop function. Nice nice sampler. Good for its price and a lot better than a Sp-202(but id kill for a good filter on the S20)... I have only two complaints which arent really relavent... 1.Its needs individual outputs. 2. Its needs an onboard filter. My 2 or so cents Peace, James a.k.a. Dj Craine
