This machine is adorable! And it sounds pretty good (especially for it's price) A lil tedious to program for somethings but still very easy to figure out and if you throw some effects into it... daaaaaaaaaamn. I'm gonna go play with it some more....

Its was great to program drums for my heavy metal project.Lots of unusual timing options.Your not stuck in 4/4 and sixteen notes.I hardly manage to kreate a metal drum kits with its internal sounds. Close to reality but I wont send those sounds to cd(No damn drummer availlable). Its really worth the 475$ I paid when there is no skin basher around

Great machine bought it brand new from Mars music for 199.99 i don't really like the preset patterns I heard from someone theres some nice 909's or 808 sounds on it. My fav kit is preset 17 the kick an snare are tight. i give five stars all the way. I mean it could use some electric sounds, but its a great piece of gear.... look out REALEST SOUNDS PRODUCTIONS

had the sr-16 for about 4 years now, and like pretty much everyone else says, it's very easy to use and you can get down creative ideas really fast on it. It tends to start to sound a little dry after a while, though. If you run it through an effects processor of some kind, that's where you can have some real fun. I'm about to MIDI it up with a Roland xp-50 workstation and a Korg Electribe ES-1, should be pretty cool sounding.

For price v.s. performance this machine is a real winner. Even at the new price, around $200, it's worth it. True, the sounds are "too realistic", and there aren't many 808/909 sounds- but that's the point. You will not sound like everyone else if you dig in and learn what this machine can do for your music. Don't just use the sounds as they are: use the multi outs and TORTURE them with FX. A little distortion makes this box an animal! It's also one of the most expressive machines I've ever programmed and the MIDI imp. is impressive for such a cheap box. Used with imagination this box could be your secret weapon when every kid on the block has a 505 etc. Do you really need another 808 kick, or would you rather come up with something totally different? Just for fun I programmed Chad Wackerman's drum part on it from Frank Zappa's "The Deathless Horsie" (Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar version) and although it used up all of the user slots it sounded great. No other drummachine in this price range can do that. One more thing: the MIDI timing feels VERY tight on this machine, I don't know the numbers but you can feel it right away. Much better than some more expensive pieces I've programmed!
