this thing is great...i dont use the plastic drum pads...use a controller with good touch sensativity...use the key assign opption in the midi chooser window...i use an alesis midi verb for the effects...its really easy to program...very old so be kind to yours....the drum sounds are very realistic for an old machine..i bought mine for 75.00 on harmony central,,,the previous owner took special care of it...original box, manual and wall wart...im recording all the music to my departments instructional videos at work (30)...the drums are very convincing...i love it

Sid a professional user from USA writes:
This is a cool device. Look for the HR-16B tho if you can find one cuz they got twice the sounds and the sounds are better quality. Its the later version and will cost a bit more than the regular HR-16, but its definately worth the extra cash. Great to use this puppy with the MMT8 sequencer. They are designed to work together nicely and they do. Great value!!

Franco Panizzon a hobbyist user from Canada writes:
I own a HR-16 and it's fantastic! It's so easy to use for both patterns and songs. The one fellow mentioned the 'sticky' buttons. All you need to do to fix that is some contact cleaner. Open the machine, clean all the rubber contacts with contact cleaner, rubbing alcohol works too...and presto....just like new. My only regret is that I didn't buy the DataDisk unit. Saving and loading patterns/songs to cassette tape is a pain.

Yannick a hobbyist user from Sweden writes:
I traded two promotional Playstation2-games for this wonderful drummachine so it did not cost me a dime. ;) What can I say. I love it. Its so easy to use and you can tune the sounds on it. Ive made some really sick beats with this baby and I would NEVER in my wildest dream sell it. It has its limitations though but fuck that...If you can get your hands on one, buy it! Note: I have the HR-16B

Bryan Palmer a professional user from Seattle writes:
My Hr-16 (Alex) is the best drummer I've ever had. I bought in 1988. One of my best investments. It is the easiest programmable machine ever produced. Want to record on the fly? This is your drummer!
