good machine..i dont use it as a dedicated beatbox...i use it as a sound module for my mc50 and DX7s yamaha..that way i can save a lot of memory space...no hiss here..you just have to use the proper voltage for that one(cant you read? it says 9v 200ma requirement)...stop complaining of what this machine cant do dammit...use it for what it can do!...it is very easy to use...i didnt have a manual for it..but i got the hang of it by a week or so...good for dance,techno,trip-hop or even industrial music..it works for me...FUCK presets! only the losers use presets, make your own,...it runs on batteries, you can program beats anytime anywhere...it has midi in and out...rca kinda sucks...and it doesnt have an external memory..that sux too!...some main board mixers cant seem to handle its low frequency i dunno why...thats one of my problems here..especially onstage...you need somekind of a more powerful mixer or some sort for it to run perfectly...anyway its good,i'd buy another since i just use as my module...get one its gonna be a classic!

I hate this drum machine. I got mine a year ago and used it for about a month before I relized it sucked. It is simple and easy to use, but the sounds are just garbage. the only good drum kit in there is the TR-808 and thats not that great.

I dont recomend this you can get a MC-303 for just a bit more, and that is way better.

good lil f@cker,i jus bought it 5 months ago,and it rocks!very easy to use, plus u can tweak all instruments in real time!good effects, really fat bass sounds,i used it live last may and it blew one of the large speakers!:)2nd time we played, the fuse in the amps inside in the dj booth blew up...man this is one doctor u dont wanna mess up with:)very portable..runs on batteries!...u can save 19 songs with 999 steps all the way,the memory for user patterns is only 100,i wish it had 50 more then id be satisfied,to hell with presets make you own!also if it had other fx like distortion and pcf filters im a happy man:)...and what really pissed me off is the dealer here for roland/boss products...they SUUUCCKKK!...when i bought this thing there was no manual and box, they have one at the main office but they wouldnt give it to me coz they said it was supposed to be thier own copy...wat the fuck were they gonna use it for? i mean the manual and box comes with the machine goddammit!roland shud do something about this!...anyway its good machine, get one...pair it with the sp 202 and your good to go!:)

cheap feel.sounds are decent,though...someone said this was better than a dr660.NO,it is not...i do like it however!.what's up with the cr78 sounds?there are only two?!?!?!?!i was under the impression there was a whole kit.oh well.i got mine for $80.worth the price.try the cool dr202 hack program in the links area.i love the fact that i can use it on batteries!!!oh, mine has no hiss either.but what's w/the cheezy rca outputs!!!!?!?i had a d2 for a while and that had rca's too.makes you think roland is targeting their gear at all those glo-stck wearing"mum i want a groovebox"ravers that forgot that 1991 is over,baby...back to the box-has alot of sounds, and the mute funtion is good for real time muting of sounds, build ups, ect.also the roll is rollin'....i give it 4 titties outta five!!!!

beloved a hobbyist user from USA writes:
I've had it for about a week or so and I have no real complaints about it. It's so easy to use and you can get just about any sound out of it you're looking for. I have no plans to ever sell this thing, I don't care what else I may get in the fututre, this thing is too much fun and it goes perfectly with my Sp-202 sampler. I know a lot of people have complained about the noise/hiss coming from this machine but I have NONE what so ever. So I can't relate there. Pefect first drum machine for me.
