It's a good drum ressource if you use it with an external sequencer. The drum machine itself is not very easy to use. They should make a new model with an indiglo back lighting. Some drums kits are good, some are shitty. The bass sounds are pretty much lights.Bass samples sounds are not very powerful. For the rest it's great...

me again id have to point out that the poeple who compare this to the electribe got it all wrong. the electribe, as far as i can tell, is only supposed to copy 808 909 sounds this baby can do so many cooler drum sounds im personnaly tired of 808 909 sounds (this is only my opinion no dissin intended) ne ways get it its worth it take care

well i can understand why peopl bitch about this machine, they all have pretty good points (it is kinda noisy and all)

the thing is, dont use this as your only drum machine, thats just stupid i use mine with roland R8 mk2 (best machine ever) alesis sr16 & a tr505 i use it mostly for the dnb type rolls which are perfect for my kinda music (imagine aphex twin meets nine inch nails :) the bass sounds can be realy cool to, basically this is a damn good machine but not on its own every one should try it

Moe taylor a professional user from United states writes:
I'm pretty sure i bought this machine within its first week or so of release. I returned a DR660 for it. I worked with it a while and then got into some deeper equipment and hadn't touched it for months. However, i recently hooked it back up and i had forgotten how many cool drum sounds i had tweaked out of it. Right now, I'm using it via MIDI as i play the drum sounds on my MPC2000 and create my sequences there. I must admit, the bass sounds are pretty shitty. There isn't much you can do with them in my opinion. Myabe a little tweaking here of there will satisfy me but overall the bass sound is nothing to brag about. Never used the electribes so i wouldn't know what they sounded like in comparison.

But you get what you pay for. I bought it new for about 400$(i think). For the occasional track here or there it serves a purpose. Its just another piece of gear to add to the set-up. If you sell one or two tracks you did with some sounds from it then you got your moneys worth.

I got my Dr 202 not too long ago and I think it is great as far as the authenticity of the sounds and features but it is just a tad bit confusing to get the hang of, one thing that pisses me off though is the fact that you cant mix kits together, like you cant take an organ bass and mix it with a slap bass, I believe if this feature was on this machine it would be alot better
