Just bought one of these guys (again) for $35. The sampling is great on it, especially coupled with portamento, which I belief is not a common function on most samplers. Just scratching the build in microphone, sampling it and playing it with portmanto yields amazing 'futuristic' drumloops. Gonna put it through a batch of guitar-pedals and some $500 effects and compression *smile*. My first, and now most recent keyboard love. Classic stuff, buy one for less than $40 and you'll be smiling.

The casio sk-1 is an amzing device, I never have less than two of them around because they can do things no other sampler can and so can the sk-5, sk-10, etc. In live performance this thing is great due to the built in mic, instant sampling and instant loop functions. Of course you have to yank down the volume when you do these functions to avoid the "plink" sound. Also they have an automatic battery saving shut-off which is really annoying at a gig. Great for resampling stuff through and dumping back to your "actual" sampler if you really want to destroy the sound. Like a previous reviewer said, it is a wonderful addition to the LSD experience because it can be operated when the human brain is mostly disabled. Is there somebody that you don't like? Give one to thier kids. I wish somebody would sell me one of thier modded ones with the midi and extra knobs because I am too lazy to chop one up myself. The sk-5 is cool too with the four sounds at a time and reverse but I sold mine for big bucks on eBay compared to what I paid for it but I am keeping the Sk-1's.

just bought this one off ebay, ($35) a bit pricey some are going for over 50! well it lives up to what I dreamed of and more. the disco beat is amazing! the drums are great fun two. great insturment, very, very versitle.

If you dont have one buy one. sampling quality aint to bad, considering the time (85) and construction/price and all.

THE sampler to have when you and a bunch of other people are hanging out, tripping acid and feel a sudden urge to sample every dirty word you can think of it and play it through demo mode. A must.

OK!.. I just bought my SK-1 tonight (02,06,00) and it ROCKS!.. it is everything I have ever wanted in a keyboard!.. I want to marry it!.. (and posably father some children!..) If Casio could of made this thing any better, they couldn't!!! I payed 28 clams for it and it was worth every phuckin phat penny! I am now going to start the Royal Order Of SK-1 users... It is truly a not so modern GOD!...
