I just bought my SK-1 from the Goodwill, and paid $5.99 for it. =) I Love it! Just like I did back in 1986, or 87. When I first saw it at a local Target store as I was christmas shopping. I must have played with the sampling mic for about a 1/2 hour. After many years I found myself wanting this little keyboard. I looked for the same type with a sampling mic, but never found one even close. I wanted one just to make the funny sounds Burps, farts, dirty words, ect. I dont know how to work the SK-1 like alot of you do. So maybe somebody can help me out? I don't have the instructions. =( Thank You all

I got a trick that nobody mentioned that will get you PHAT laser/disco sounds like in "ring my bell": hit the synthesizing button (next to sample recall button middle bottom). hit a few keys and get a tone going. turn on the protamento. hold envelope select and press the lowest ebony. now your there, just hold down the lowest key and hit the highest one rapidly, or vise versa! Enjoy!

this is meant to be PLAYED! i love the tone glide-vibrato trick and i LOVE the short-sample-creates-a-tone-kinda-like-the-aphex-twin-song trick. i rank this up there with my odyssey & jup-6 it is incredible FUN and INDESTRUCTIBLE! efx pedals compliment this thing very well and for a good example of what can be done w/ this synth (yhea i'm callin' it a synth!) try the SEE SAW c.d. on the simple machines label (comes with a big picture of the guys sk-1)oh and it shuts off automaticly too how nice of it. kenton should come out w/ midi upgrades for this thing.

This little wonder brings me back to the days of second grade or something.... as usual, sampling farts, belches, and what not. And it had _the_ demo..... I can still play it in my head.
As a real instrument, it's totally useless.... but it's still the ultimate machine for when I want to get in touch with my grade school days.
TB-303s, Moog's, eat your heart out! This is *REAL* retro. And from what I can see, people are using this thing a lot more than what it was built for...... Ten years from now, people will be doing the same with MC303's and DJX's....
Let 'em live forever... But it's STILL too silly for a 5.
