Paul Davies a professional user from United Kingdom writes:
One of the first keyboard I worked with and still probably the worst. Awful sound, badly built and a LCD display which was small and almost useless. If you want a retro sound the only Casio could produce go for one of their MT portable keyboard which were ahead of their day....This keyboard was a mistake when I purchased it then and now.

Talking about the sounds on this synth are easy! it's anorexic!!! I've had this for (it's my dads really) for 17 years and I've only used it in the last 4 years and it's soooo weak!! it's 80s no bass what so ever weak no bass cheesy edam cheese! nothing like a juno what so ever! I hate it! wots the point in having a block of no bass cheddar instead of a fat synth! a juno could kick this anorexic fool synth with no bass anytime! Don't get it for fat, get it for 80s no bass cheese!

Steve B a hobbyist user from UK writes:
I used one of these as a MIDI controller for a year or two. The keyboard was actually quite nice for usch a cheapie - not touch sensitive, of course, but playable and quite strongly sprung. MIDI split is a great feature too.

Sounds are basically appalling. None of the 32 waveforms has any bite or character. Like the Korg Poly 800, it has only one filter for all voices. And it's a dog. Little more than a tone control.

Don't buy this for sounds, unless you have already budgeted for a decent multiFX unit or already won one. Put enough FX on anything and it will sound OK.

Gary a hobbyist user from England writes:
I've had my HZ600 since 1988/89 and I still use it alongside my more powerful gear. I only like a couple of the presets (Synth reed & Synth celesta), but I've managed to create great filtered chord sounds, SH101 type bass, and modern sounding dance sequence sounds even without effects. It's not the best synth in the world I'll admit & it is a bit weedy, but it can be used to great effect as the synth input for a vocoder once you get the sound right. It also gives a really fat and warm solo 70s synth sound when you put it through a decent effects unit. I don't like the way you have to programme it, as you can't get a decent view of where all the envelope parameters are at the same time.

George a hobbyist user from Toronto, Canada writes:
This is one of the most boring machines I have ever used. The sound of it sucks and I would rather prefer a 10$ Bontempi children toy-keyboard instead. :-D Despite of the fact that Casio made the incredible and honourable CZ/VZ-synthesizers around the same time I must say that this so called synthesizer was a total failure of Casio. I had one of these some years ago and did never use it.
