Well it sounds "glory days of the eighties" =). It has a very very noisy waveform =( but I like the keyboard!! maybe the first who does that =). want a budget 303??? no problem, choose the "synthbass" preset..close the filter and turn the resonans to max, then set the filter envelope to about 16... then we have it!! =) now try to play on the lowest octave...wow!! =) want acid sound?? just pull in a guitar dist and scream!! =)

This keyboard decent. Good to start learning sound programming because it is simple. Can send on 2 midi channels, despite what the specs say. Which makes it an ok MIDI controller. No key pressure which downs it as a controller though. Fairly sturdy. You can make some usable sounds if you put it through an effect or two. If it's cheap give it a try.

Programming interface based on the Roland Alpha Juno's-it has a dial. Despite the other review of this synth-it is the classic example of thin, cold digital waveforms for the the basic DCO type-i.e. hardly "retro" if you mean analog sounding and certainly impossible of producing a convincing 303 bass sound. On the flip side it does have 32 different waveforms and a cinch to program so it is capable of making some interesting "plink" noises although the filters are to short crappy for really decent pads. No where near as interesting as the other vastly underated el cheapo Casio synths-the CZ series. ********IMPORTANT NOTE-If you are using this as an el-cheapo MIDI controller (probably the only thing its any good for) the modulation on/off button next to the mod wheel must be flicked on and off at least once before it starts to transmit MIDI
