This is a really great unit especially for the price.
Perfect for real instrument sounds. Piano's organs, drums, basses, percussion, strings are mostly excellent.
Also has a really easy to use interface. I was creating songs with this after having it about two days.
While I love programming, sometimes it's great to have ready made sounds at your finger tips.
Blows away anything in double or maybe even triple it's price range. (I paid $425)

Recently bought one of these units second hand for $750 Australian which is pretty good value considering a Roland JV1080 goes for $1200 Australian upwards.
It has a very clean sound. The fx are good, its easy to edit. If you need some good quality 'real world' sounds at a good price then look no further.

This is an excellent unit! It sounds great.
REALIABILITY: Haven't had any real problems in the year I've owned it. The OS can get a little quirky from time to time, just turning it off and on again clears it up.
SOUNDS: FANTASTIC. Wide range of sounds covering just about every instrument you could ever want or need. Very clean and professional sounding. Built in effects unit is fantastic. You can use a dedicated reverb, chorus, and 1 effect from a wide selection at one time across multiple sounds. The Stereo Grand Piano is soooo sweet to play. Killer strings, realistic drum kits with a wide variety to chose from.
WORKSTATION / INTERFACE: Easy to get around, neat Soundfinder knobs make finding sounds and change parms a breeze. Performance is a collection of 16 onboard sounds & parameters. Not just 16 "parts" or "waveforms" that comprise a boards cool sounds (like alot of other units) but 16 actual sounds comprise of various "parts".
OVERALL: A truly great unit. I would buy it again in a second and will probably never part with it. Worth every penny.

I had considered a JV-1080 but got a good deal on the MR-Rack. I am very, very pleased with it, especially with its ease of use. I felt the factory settings only touch on its ability, and am looking forward to tweeking or obtaining new sounds. I'm hoping to find more end-all piano, electro-piano (ala Rolandesque) sounds so I don't have to layer with my other instruments as well.
Many of the stock sounds which I first heard suffered from what I considered sea-sick chorusing - In fact, until I learned that it was the chorus and not the sample, I almost passed on the unit, but with a little tweeking in performance mode, I have been able to clean this up. I highly recommend this unit to anyone. I'm particularly intereseted in obtaining 'praise and worship' sounds, again powerful elect./accoustic pianos and pads.
I hope Ensoniq keeps up with the trend and markets and perfects this wonderful box like they have with other products - Let's convince em to take on Roland all the way, I think they can do it - especially if they don't lose their eye on customer support which has served me splendidly for 10+ years. Please
Ensoniq, don't go the way of Arp and put all your eggs in the 'Paris' basket.
