Well, I'll add that I miss my Prophecy... I sold it to fund the purchase of the MOSS board for my Trinity (which is very cool too but somehow does not have the same balls - or immediacy - as the Prophecy did/does). One of the hardest "shall I part with it or shall I not" decisions I've had to make.

Sure this synth only has one voice, but it's a killer voice. I'd rather have one great voice than 100 mediocre ones. I'd also rather have a Prophecy than a JP8000.

Really, the Prophecy is capable of just awe-inspiring sounds, and I found it pretty easy to program. But then, I don't think knobs make or break a synth. It's nice to have fifty of them, but sometimes five will do (as is the case here). This little baby is capable of blowing your mind, and isn't that what it's all about.

Gotta say this... The JP8000 sounds like crap compaired to the Prophecy. The only thing worth trading the Proph for is maybe a real analog or a Z1. With the real analog though, you'd miss out on some cool physical modeling stuff. Ahh... Just another case of someone not knowing what the hell they're doing raising hell about their ignorance.

"it is monophonic and there are only 5 real time knobs... The programming is NOT cool because you have to go through bloody menu's here..."

Boo-Fu**ing-hoo... You knew well when you bought it that it was monophonic. 5 knobs is enough, PLUS it has that sweet ass log controller. And finally, the menus aren't really needed for the simple analogish sounds you're most likely trying to make. They're for more in depth functions like PM. That guy would probably bash a Nord Modular because "the display sucks." Oi.

Sorry about the rant... I just hate it when people bash good gear.

Kevin a professional user from U.S.A. writes:
The Prophecy is a bad Idea with great potential, the sounds are the bomb! but the whole monophonic concept is selfish Garbage! this synth is only good for people who's minds are small enough to be content with playing only one sound, the Prophecy was a financial gimmick to get buyers to purchase analog without getting what they really want and need the Z1, which is more polyphony and multitimbral capabilities, sure the Prophecy sound great, but when you get tired of having to sample all day long to hear more than one Prophecy voice, and also realize that it looks better than it's usability, than you will know the prophecy limits your brain to creativity, and that's the reason I sold my prophecy and bought a 10 voice Analog AN1x synthesizer, for a price brand new out the box, for have the price I paid for my frustrating mono synth called Prophecy, I sugeest you all right now, sell your Prophecy and go out and buy a New AN1x analog 10 voice synth and you would think God chose you to conquer the musical world! Hurry before it's too late! very few stores still have Yamaha AN1x synth for $499 us dollars, it may really be the greatest synth investment you ever made in your whole life!
