I played with this machine and I really do dig it. It seems like it would be fun to use Live. EA-1, and MPC and a mixer. Sounds like a great set up. So I guess I'm going to give this thing a 5 for being cheap, for having two synths in one basically, and for being a table top unit. Just love those table top units.

Hey! I dig this little puppy from what I've heard messing around with it the past 2 days. I was amazed at the range of sound you can get out of that thing with only 2 oscillators. Its very encouraging that it gets that great a sound with such basic effects! I just have 2 questions: 1) Can you really synch the delay repeats to midi clock to get 16th note repeats and stuff? 2) Has anyone out there tried lining guitar effects through these things? I'm thinking this will work great not only in my synth rig but in my guitar rig too.....any thoughts? I just don't want to hurt this bad boy when I run my Metal Zone through it! Korg has done it again!! (oh at the Guitar Center where I've been playing with it they have the ER-1 hooked up so that when you press play on that module it turns on the EA so that you hear synth and drums after pressing one button.....Guitar Center gets 3 out of 5 for honesty heh heh)

What gear should be. Simple enough to create patterns without a PHD. At the end of the day the important thing to me is the sound that I can encorporate into a track and the ease in getting out what's in my head..more often than not 25 submenus will draw from any moment of inspiration. My only critisism of the unit is the inability to record more than one knob movement with the 'motion' record thingumy. nothing like playing with cut\off and resonance at the same time. I would actually list the way the EA-1 changes a pattern at the end of a measure as a definite advantage, more often than not this is what you want....use the Rm1x enough and you realize that split second changes in patterns can be more of a hindrance. Kudos to Korg, a well deserved 5 for a well thought out product.

Mark Spruell a hobbyist user from Detroit writes:
Great sounds, easy to use and a lot of fun. Has a lot of limitations (mono only, no velocity, no patch storage except with patterns, no scratch memory -- use that store key often!)

But for what it is, it's damn near perfect. The sound is really different, the audio input and sequencer can do some awesome tricks, the tempo locked effects rule.

As a whole it works just like it should (as long as you keep using the store key!) -- I was making new patterns and sounds in the store and I could have used it live the second day with it. This is how gear should be.

I'm only givin' it 4 because of the limitations.
