I got this baby for $260 after 3 months or so of use, I must say it hasn't dissapointed me, I got what i was expecting, sweet analogue. This baby doesn't just do basslines though, you can get the most whacked out far out sounds i've ever heard! My only complaint is that if you don't run it through a mixer, it only plays on one channel (left or right), depending on what part you are on. If you make a 2 part sequence, 1 part plays on the left, the other on the right. I don't mind it that much, but the soudns you can get are amazing and hte sequencer is a cinch to use! I'm glad I bought this baby!

check it out, I don't use this instrument on its own...i have a Boss Dr. Groove(shhhh, i like it) which i run with the EA-1 and an Ensonique KT 76 Midi Keyboard for backing voices and weird noises. I hafta say, for the experimental vibe im trying to put out, this package hit the spot.GREAT growls, sweet leads, if its lacking in any department, i run it through my guitar effects to get even stranger sounds. Im happy...

The EA-1 is simply a great instrument. I've owned a lot of other synths but I just love the sound of the korg. It's aggressive if you want but it's warm and sweet when you want it as well. The filters are nice and Fat (12db vcf). I have now concentrated myself on just the tribe to limit myself because that's when I really shine. I suggest to add an FX unit because with a little reverb this baby is king!

Amygdala a part-time user from USA writes:
Well...after reading the reviews of EA-1, I was surprised that there was such passion regarding reviewer's love or hate of this device. Let me just say that I own an EMU ESI, and while I am happy with the Emu, I was still looking for a simple realtime-analog synth-style addition to the studio to further warp and decimate my soundbank of nontraditional sounds.

I can report that this little machine really packs a punch and that I've actually been able to create a miriad of sounds and effects only dreamed of before.

By linking my sequencer through the EA-1 and then into the Emu, I feed back the output of the sampler into the input source of the EA-1. When I sequence, I can edit patterns for the EA-1 and it will remember the analogous patterns and knob positions while it records! You can create really blissed out panning effects in rhythm with the sample sequence, or further morph and tweak your existing parameters until you have created something entirely new and never before heard.

The EA-1 certainly is not the end-all product for your studio...but as an addition to your other MIDI-based equipment, you can only go where your imagination draws the line...for some, it is unfortunatley not very far...for others...they will embrace the tool and continue to shout out its praise.

So there you have it! A positive review from someone who owns both high-end and lo-end gear. Who cares what the cost is? If it helps the musician to create and write music, then it's all A+, be it a $2000.00 condensor mic or a toy xylophone played with a violin bow. It's not how much you spend, it's what you can do with it. And the little thing does quite a lot for your money's worth...

Korg EA-1 is a good machine... not the best but is a good machine for the people who does'nt have enought cash for a 303..

I like the knob they are easy to turn, with grip...

the flanger is a little bit too metallic... delay is greeeeeeeeaaaaatttttt!!!

for the distortion problem...plug a guitar pedal...(im using a Boss-Metalizer) It works very well!!!

The recording is easy....

I like this machine!

I need a 303.....

=)
