Its a rude little thing and I have to say it's not inspirational. Its' maybe a little geared towards the 303 cloning market but the Audio in/thru feature is a definite advantage, without this, the superb delay and the ring, sync and decimator options it would be a noisy, nasty, burping lout of a synthesizer. It is not exactly subtle. It is however possible to elicit beautiful sounds from it and it is incredibly intuitive to use. Today I controlled my MFB synth 2 with the MIDI from it and fed one channel of the EA1 through the synth-2's Audio input, and my Xbase's Hi-hats through the EA1's audio input and the result was quite interesting. However, does anyone know if i can assign each part a seperate MIDI channel?

Bass for days........... I love this bass box, I punch in a quick bassline tweak it with the gate and the portamento maybe change up the pitch here and there and I have a funky fat bassline everywhere just oozing out.
I love Korg's Electribe series because of the motion sequence, one can tweak a pattern and or song (adjust different parameters) hit save and it's saved. I would love to be able to layer motion sequences, and save the memory to a smartcard -maybe Korg will do that on the Korg EA1 mkIII.
This instrument can be very inspirational especially if you have basslines floating around in your head. It's cool to hook up a drum machine via MIDI, feed it through the audio in and just jam.
This isn't a stand alone machine (though I'm sure some creativity could go far and one could make it one)I woulden't start off with this if I wanted to make some songs -maybe a more conventional synth.
Though I have described this as a bass box you can make whatever sound you like and use it however you like. Maybe in the future I'll use it as a lead instrument?

I had one of these 5 years ago in a minimal set-up, and sold it. I have recently got another (very cheap) and I still love it. This is because it is the perfect solution for quick and dirty bass. The delay and the distortion sound excellent, though I wish the distortion had a level control. Be warned if this is your only synth you may tire of the sounds but as part of a more rounded studio, it is extremely usefull even as an fx unit.

Awesome, fraky, athmospheric masterpiece! Wonderful. Drawbacks: Many sounds are rude, metallic, digital and kind of crappy. Still you can get tons of interesting fat analogue sounds. Nevertheless the electribe-a is not as deep as a Yamaha AN-200 in terms of sound possibilities. Very good and useful sequencer - this is why I personally think the electribe is much better than the Yamaha. Most important: it's mad fun to play with and you do get results. Very inspirational and high quality tool! But do not expect it to be the all-in-one solution. It is not even meant to be the main ingredient of your music. It's more like sugar and spice. I paid �188 - thank you Korg, really really big time value!

Great tool for noodling. The sounds have a brittle digital character but the machine's capable of convincing analogue beef and bite.
