I picked one up 2 months ago. For what I am trying to do it's good considering it's my first piece of real gear. My styles are actually more industrial/EBM oriented and the growl this thing can do is very much along my lines. Some of the softer sounds are great too. I also enjoy experimenting with the audio in gate, I just picked up an old DX27 and it's great to use the two in conjunction. Also another neat "noise" trick: Lay the power cord right next to the audio out. As you turnt he knobs you can literally hear the voltage changes. God i love messing with E&M fields (being an EE major helps). While I do wish it had an envelope for some pad sounds i can just mix anything i record to get that sound (albiet it'll be alot of mixer knob movement).

programs as easy as my tr-606 (unlike my 606, it doesnt sound like a game boy : ) ) of course i hooked the midi input to my (shity-assed)keyboard, and wow, just pressed the midi button and it worked, all the octives and the pitch bend wheel, i have a feeling im gonna be jammin on this thing a lot, im into the dirty analogu sound, and wioth a lil tweakin, this guy sound nice nice nice, im not into toys that make i wanna be a cool techno guy dance sounds(ahem....mc-303), this is a fine peice of hardware, i have yet to feel limited by it, on a not so cool "note"(as it were), it has like 2 key polyphony, maybe three, but this is an awesome. the mc-303 isnt that bad actually, i just dont like it, or the 505 for that matter, their pretty good pieces of equiptment just a matter of preferance.

HomeCured a professional user from Norwich,UK writes:
I Love this machine. Its easy to use and sounds Phat as Phuck. It does gorgeous leads, phat bass and even Hoovers and acid. Ive had it for about 9 months now so i think i can say i have explored most of its hidden depths. Best features? the delay and flanger. Worst feature? no LFO and a bit of noise from the outputs. If you want a "groovebox" don't buy one,get an "electribe" instead.

Got mine for $350. Dude threw in cables. Hooked it up to my sampler and did some hard disk recording. This thing got the job done. Pads, bass and techno bleeps. That as all i need it for. 5 out of 5 cuz I got it for 350 4.5 if I paid $400 for it.

Curt mueller a part-time user from usa, Georgia writes:
This machine is exstacy in a box. The sounds are so different most that play with it move the knobs too much and they say it sounds distorted but when they hand it over to me it's just butter. All you need to do is dance with the knobs and the sounds go from simple to complex hardhitting funk, jungle and anything else you can get out of it. Next i'm buying the analog mod synth, and the kaoss pad.. It's all so light weight but the sound is definitely HEAVY
