I just got one this thing is very, very cool! I love it I own a bunch of korg stuff I They go all out when they build a piece of gear. So if you need a beat box or you already have one this would be an addition to yor sound. If you tweek it and spend some time with it you can get Bass sounds out of it.

Carl Scripter a part-timer user from USA writes:
The ER-1 is a tweaker's wet dream. These little boxes produce some of the most amazing soundsscapes using relatively simple effects (mod speed, mod depth, etc.). The four drum parts are totally tweakable from venerable q-tip stabs to long silky slides of festive synth to fuzzy bass kicks.. There's really no limitation to the sonic landscapes this box can create.

Contrary to popular belief, the audio-in is God. I have patched the first audio-in to my VCR tuner (the Christian channel, no doubt) and the second to my turntables / Roland Juno. There's magic in that machine when I get kinky with the audio-in!

The only problems I see in this box are few and far between. Firstly, there's no real good "standard" snare sfx (but who needs that in a tweakbox). The other problem is that the knobs are a little too small and a little too close together. My lanky fingers keep bumping into neihboring knobs when scritch-scratchin.`

All in all I am thuroughly happy with the Electribe R (and you can hear it every other Wednesday on my internet radio show - http://www.scripter.com/insanity)

David Mazur a hobbyist user from Belgium writes:
Hi all. I took my my ER-1 out live for the first time, and I must say there is one feature which annoys me. When select a new pattern it starts with every part unmuted. This is of course a drawback when you want to do continuous mixes. It would have been VERY nice if you could save the muted/unmuted settings in your pattern. Props for Roland to include this feature on their MC-303 as this saved me yesterday.

Michael Neo a part-timer user from Los angeles writes:
I have had this little gem for about 2 months and I Love it!! I have always wanted to get a machine that would let me make all those cool electronic drums you hear in old Yazoo, ultravox, depeche and Erasure songs. It's pure synth pop!! Bagging the Electribes is mindless when you take into account what they do for the tiny amount of money they cost. I'm so over this " it's not a 909" crap. If you really feel compelled to spend $1200 on a TR 909 Go right ahead. The rest of us will be more than happy with our little plastic rip off's, anyway thats what dance culture has always been about to me little and plastic and fun rave on!!!!!
