I paid $270 for this box brand new. I can compare this thing to any 808/909 clone. The thing I like about this box is that it puts out alot of BASS. We ran this thing a 1200 watt amp and two high quality 12's. SWEET JESUS! You feel the BASS inside your chest. I like the clap and the open highs, but the rest of the PCM sounds I think sound like poop. The 4 synth parts are very usefull. I also own the ES-1 and they compliment each other nicely. You can't really buy anything else for that price that will do waht it does. I love DSP, anything else out there would smaple or use all PCM sounds. Best buy for the moeny guys and gals. If your doing stuff live(which I use this thing with a Voyager 1 and my decks), it is the way to go.

nice machine. i had it now for two days and i am very pleased. plus: nice sounds, lots of weirdness possible, more a electronic percussion module than a drum machine, quite tight, really small, ease of use, low boost acts as very controllable distortion.

cons: global delay (delayed bassdrum?), if you select a part to tweak it you have to trigger it (is a problem with slow ambient patterns), no single outs, no real velocity control, only one motion sequence per part

alltogether very recommendable. perfect for old school electronca or Mouse on Mars plibs and blurbs, wolfgang flr would be delighted. this thingy wetted my appetite for more electribes. i'll probably get the es1 if i find it used, ea1 doesn't look that promising. i paid GBP 120 for it second hand, worth every penny.

Hey I think this peice of gear is really cool. For the price ($300) new, I think is really good for this machine.I got mine for $225 from a local with no manual. I still don't have the manual and dont think I ever will need it! This little machine is so easy to use(maybe cus my Jomox Xbase 09 is set up in the same way).As far as sounds go, I like them alot. You can get alot of cool little weird sounds outta this box. This is a machine that will go with any style of music. I wouldn't recommend using the ER-1 for 808/909 sounds, but it does have a nice kick to it. **** If you are new to making music with drum machines, YOU NEED TO BUY THIS. It is cheap and makes really good quality sounds, plus it is easy to use.If you are a pro, then this machine will be great to add to your army of percusion.

I had the same problem with the 300BPM patterns and was considering taking it back as I presume it is a fault :-(

Apart from that, this is the first machine I have owned and it is a great box for beginners. Sounds can strat to be similar but route them through an effects unit and it'll add some zip. I double this up my ES1 and if you put the audio of the ER thru that it works fine - especially if you add some 'real' drums over the top from the ES.

As has been said before, on its own, can sound weak, but in the mix it works really well.

The ER-1 is a very nice drum-sizer. OK, it's not analogue, but it sounds great nevertheless. The only thing, I don't like is the fact, that there's only one stereo-output. It needs single outputs. 5 would have been great. 4 for the sizer-parts and one for the PCM-part.
