Daniel a hobbyist user from Australia writes:
So easy, so creative and so fun. My girlfriend hates this things cause I play It all night. But she still admits to the greats sounds that I can get out of this thing. I was extremely interested to hear that The Orb have used it. I am a huge fan and with the ER-1 have made some music that is very Orb-ish.

The ER1 is awsome. It will thump you or it can make stange noises. The Analog modelling drum sounds are made with a form of LFO. You can make it do good Drum bass or decent snares. or you can do some strange FM or Ringmod effects as the LFO knob can go so fast that it will self oscillate. The Hi Hats,Crash,Clap, stuff is sample based. You can pitch them or make them sound short or full. Its all editable like it should be. The ER1 is the coolest Drum effects box for the money.

I finally picked one of these up ;) It's just what I wanted... Really tweaked out electronic percussion that can thump as well as tick and tweet. Looks real nice in the dark as well heheh :) The delay-with-knobs is quite fun to fiddle with, I only wish the feedback lasted longer heheh :)

Mr Orange a hobbyist user from Belgium writes:
I have this box for a few weeks and I must say that it sounds good it the mix. (I tend to put some flanger and vocal dist. on it... this realy sweeps...) I'm quite satisfied with the possibilities.

There's only one thing... I thought sometimes the thing could use a little sampled sound. (Snare, Ride...) But when I hook the thing up to my sampler, it plays the sample but cuts it off. (So if any of you know an answer....please mail me)

Besides that it just keeps on going ... Nice thingy

Byron a professional user from USA, Cleveland writes:
I was pressured into buying the ER-1 becuz I found a used one for $250 and had to jump on it or it would've been sold. It was well worth the investment. I blew my speakers with the bass so BE CAREFUL. This thing straight regulates on the bass scene. You can elongate the bass to make it fuller, or shorten the signal to make it bouncier or punchier. I'm not into the "MIDI-studio" scene...yet. I'm a DJ expanding my sonic horizons and this thing is weapon. Not for everyone... if you like minimal techno that builds into a frenzy, this machine is great. I've even come up with some great Drum'n Bass basslines. Its a great live tool once you get comfortable with the "controls" for lack of a better word. You can isolate individual drums in the track and tweak them real time... its a mind phuck. While often taken for granted... this thing really is easy to use, for the user interface impaired... this thing is a nice change of pace.

Negatives?? It can sound kinda cheezy if you don't have the levels set the "right way".... but this can be avoided once you get comfortable with the sounds/level settings you like.

Lack of drums? There could be a few more drum options.... another high end, sharp snare could be useful.

If you're like me..... buy to many records to save up for an Akai MPC-2000.... this thing is a great starting tool.... and darn fun to play with.
