I have two pieces for repair here. Most of the functions don't work for now, but I can get very wicked bass/bassdrum arpeggio's out of it now. An unbelievable fat, organic sound. Don't know if it produces the sound in defect state only... I yes, then I will leave one piece as it is now!

Very 'Moogish' sound, but that's because they have the same kind of filters.

This synth is a real babe. The filter is mighty. The effects make for sweet pads. The intensity control can produce an interesting Leslie similation. The only problem is the abuse they've taken over the years. They were cheap and have been treated accordingly. If you can geta good one buy it fast. I can't remember a synth which I have seen over the years which has been so badly treated by their owners. No servicing, stupid and dangerous modifications and heaps of gig wacks has killed many off.

i tend to agree this machine is way underrated. i picked one up on the cheap and was immediately seduced to record a 60 min dat with various self-oscillating weird pads and sequenced noises. one thing i noticed was how incorrect the comparison with a juno is. the juno is way more limited, and as the polysix can be had quite cheaply these days, i can only recommend it. the filter has a very nice sound to it, quite powerful in a round, pleasant, un-korg-like way. the arpeggiator is more fun than on a juno, too. they are quite different beasts anyway.

David Spero a part-time user from Venice, CA. writes:
I have owned a mountain of synths in my time... Rolands, Yamaha, etc. I never owned a Poly Six until recently. I have had some real studio time to get to know this synth and I have some advice for y'all thinking about getting one...GET ONE! The sounds are so incredibly chunky & rich.. I was amazed by the sheer expresion of this synth. It completely smashes the nuts off any roland... SMASHES THE NUTS OFF OF ANY ROLAND! I was able to get lush thick rich sounds bubbling with butter and dirty space hull airlock leads all in a matter of moments! This unit kicks booty! If you find one of these synths - find out if the battery has ever been changed... If not, change the battery or take it to your local repair shop. Battery damage can completely destroy the korg. I love this synth - never let 'er go.

i used to have jupiter envy till i got one of these.oh buddy, what a synth!had tons of fun with this baby, till it fell victim to the dreaded battery leakage.having no repair sites except within warp-drive distance,i ended up trading it for a computer with a bunch of soft synths installed.BAD,BAD,BAD!what a BAD boy!
