just got this guy in the mail a few days ago but have already made some great patches. i can't imagine how anyone could say this has weak bass sounds...obviously they have not discovered unison mode! i'm using this thing to make 80's-style electro and it's perfect.
one problem: suddenly the sub-osc and octave-changer just stopped working. i opened the thing up and it has the tell-tale signs of battery leakage. is that what is screwing up the sub-osc/etc? it seems strange that a problem like that, which has probably been there for a while, is just now affecting things, only three days after i got the synth? is this likely? please email me if anyone knows.

I bought a Polysix yesterday, and I must say that I like it. It think it's best for monofonic monster lead sounds, and pad type of sounds. The synth does not have very much bass in it (compared to for example the Juno series), so it's not a very good bass synth. But it really like the sound; a nice raw Korgsound wich make thies hard "beeeeeee"-sounds. :)
Hovever, my polysix is a big internal detuned; the different areas of the keyboard seams to have an induvidual tuner. I've heards that theres a way to tune it moving some grey screws in it. But I don't know wich screws. Is there anybody out there who knows? Please send me an email!

Too right! This is a cracking bit of kit. To start with, vcos rather than dcos. I think that some people here are trying to compare it to a memorymoog or a jp8. Don't be silly. The filter is great as is the arpegiator and the chord tracking. A real analogue synth. Not a hybrid or a va. The sounds are analogue heaven in every respect. How do those oscilators sound so fat, being only one per voice? The human voice sounds you can make are real scary..owners will know what I mean. A classic machine. Just watch the prices soar. It's due to be discovered(again.) Miles better than any other poly analogue in its price range. Go get one..NOW!

A really good synth. Powerful, expressive and great fun. The chord tracking feature is so 80s. The arp. is fantastic fun. Good effects considering its age. The filter is one of the best I've used. Loads of LFOs coming off the pwm and effects intensity. The spread of sounds you can create is huge. Sounds alot like a prophet 5. There are quite a few still about. Says alot about the build quality..few were ever looked after. I'm surprised at the number of people who have critisised this synth here. They cost nothing and offer great value for money. I've just looked at the review page for the prodigy, one of my other synths. can't believe the review they have got or the prices they are making. The polysix is packed with features and is a much more fun synth than the juno 60. I've noticed that the professional reviewers on the vintage synth site have given it top marks, quite rightly. Hobyist reviewers often knock it. Perhaps it's not trendy or wicked enough..yet. Or it's not overpriced and overrated enough for them. The unison of six vcos provides one of the most powerful lead lines I have ever experienced, and I've owned over 30 different synths. This is a nice synth which you will really enjoy. Do be careful to check that the battery has been changed. Can cause a few problems.

Zippity Zip Zop Bap this is a Rickitty Rockitty Jim-Jam set of keys! Makes a great low WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW sound that makes my ears tingle. At gigs, I get a little bit silly sometimes and start slamming my fists down upon the keyboard and knobs and switches and what-not, so I have gone through a few of them in the past few years. For the price, though, I don't mind throwing them away if I break them (I actually broke one almost in half when we played the Fox a few years ago. It made a really awesome noise through the P.A., but the sound guys got real upset about it.) If you want a Slithery Slathery Orange Juicy type sound, grab one of these synths!
