A truly overrated synth. It's crap for strings, it's no more than adaquate for some colder types of bass-sound. Its could for standard filler analog sounds (thanks to the ensemble and phaser). I don't like the sound, don't like how it looks either. I suspect that none of the old Korg analog has anything resembling fatness or warm sound, but then I never heard the 700-series or the PS semi-modulars.
It's probably worth $100, no more. But don't except any classic sounds

I paid about 100$ fir it.Probably it has some problem but mine has the lowest ams bostest bass I have produced from my synth collection. Moveing the cutoff knob in this situation all my house vibrates. The but side:low quality sound,not versatile. I like it.

good for knob turning sound making bass booming sqweeeling noise good for modulated sounds that make your mouf water. i got this for 100 bucks and it is a bargain all the bass keys werk but the high keys dont work but i like the bass . i like the cars that go boom. but over all this is a nice peice to have in your collection. its good in my arsenal itll be good in yours. kid tested mother approved. over all i just got this and i havent really gotten any good leads but the atmospheric modulated sounds r solid and the arpegiater is really nice hope this helps

The Poly-Six is an analog classic. I got mine for what I think is a good price and it was worth it. When I first got it, I loved it. Then I got bored with it. But then, I finally learned how to program and now I can get anything out of this beast. You can make a mean lo-fi Portishead style Rhodes sound, swirling FAT pads and vibrating strings and organs. And if you think that is good, listen to the weird sounds it makes. I've sampled one a many oscillator/filter sweeps and other weird things. It has an effects processor to boost the fattness even more. If you want to make the sounds a little more real, try throwing reverb or delay on them with an external effects processor. This thing is a beast. One gripe, and I've heard other people bitch about it. One patch button is broke, number 4 on my synth. Odd, but I just don't save anything frequently used on location 4. Unfortunately no MIDI, but hey that's the joy of live performance.

I am giving it a 4, because its more like a 3.8, but anyway.... You can whip up some POWERFULL sounds. For instance, a middle C you can FEEL. However, in my opinion, its not a very good lead synth Maybe I'm not programming it right, but its more of a secondary synth for me. I wouldn't sell it, simply for its unique warm/powerfull sounds. Some say it sounds like the Roland Juno series... it doesn't all, unless your tone deff or something. It has a 'raw' warm sound. Its also great for making totally whacked sounds.
As a side note, dont pay more then $300 for it, if you can find one with a rare midi retrofit, maybe $350-$400. but it isn't a 'must have'.
