i'm just about to have my triton, although my bandmate allowed me to use his, to my surprise, i discovered that this gear is a good investment although it doesn't beat my xv5080 which i will never trade for anything, i just wish this keyboard will serve me for many years. i had an ns5r and rm1x and sold it in order to pay for my triton, i also ordered for a scsci board and planning to buy Moss and expansion boards for future upgrades

For those who are into R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, or Pop, Korg Triton is the answer. An awesome keyboard with amazing synth sounds. The "touch-view-screen" makes searching very easy. After playing it at a local music store, I fell in love...even though the piano sounds are quite "cheezy-for-sheezy". Many artists and producers use the Triton series. Artist like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Lil' Bow Wow, Lil' Romeo, Brandy, and Britney Spears have used and are using it in producing and making music. What more could you ask for? Some other great keyboards "in my opinion" are Roland Fantom, Korg Karma, Yamaha Motif, Triton Le, and Roland XP-60 or XP-80. The Triton is not your average keyboard, it is a "SYNTH of the Future".

Ernst Kasteleijn from The Netherlands writes:
Yes the presets of the Triton suck. But have you ever listened to the Triton presets with MOSS board loaded? Or to the Rose, Legacy, Triton LE, converted Karma collections? (http://www.tritonhaven.com) Made me sell my Studio Essentials and Dance Extreme board!

What I don't understand uptil now is how to use progs with full effects in sequencer mode. It seems to share the 5 insertfx among the 16 midi channels ... and that kinda sucks. Means that I have to record directly into audio to get that great 'Triton effect' otherwise the patches sound dull and flat. Which is huge advantage btw in performance mode. You can adjust effects instead of Roland's effects on JV/XV series which are simply there and cannot be removed if you want it to. Can somebody enlighten me perhaps?

And Triton's piano's? Yes again the preset sucks! but check them out in Legacy 2. Or "Forest piano" with MOSSboard loaded, it's simply fantastic! Although Roland's SRJV09 Session has some great piano's too. Roland doesn't have great motion pads or synth sounds in their JV/XV line. They are great for producing acoustic piano's and guitar sounds for movie and classical types of music, but that's all!

And don't forget people ... Triton has a full blown sampler. Something the XV5080 lacks! OK the XV can load samples, but gosh what a loosy implementation Roland! :-(

Don't know about motif, but what I've heard it's a repacked EX5 so I would rather buy the EX5; cheaper and better. Also because it's incorporating multiple synthsarchitectures into one.

Anyway if my Triton got lost or stolen, I would buy it again. Together with gigasampler or a XV module for acoustic style instruments. ... It's all a matter of personal opinion guys, be glad there is some competition out there!

Being a hobbyist on a budget, I waited for the Triton LE to show up, and I'm glad I did. After going to Sam Ash and playing with the original triton for the past year, my dream came true, in the form of a cheaper triton. I dont need the sampler, thats what my MPC is for if I EVER need it. touch screen i can do without. point is, you get all the programs from the triton along with a few new ones. There are a couple of other minor differences, but it was totally worth the money. Now if I could just get some inspiration....I'm in the "writer's block" phase. but still, if you cant afford the triton and dont mind a couple of things missing, like extra IFX channels, cop this bastard.

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE KEYBPRD IT DESRVES A 5/5 rating it has so much potential but it really depends on your skills. The Board has never let me down I love it!! I want to marry it!!! I love this Board!!! The downside is that the Piano sounds cheasy as hell. Very Very Cheasy almost casio Cheasy not what I would expect from sucha beatiful board! But however even with that the Triton is the King of Keyboards!!! There is just so much that this board can do my only advice you is save up for one and buy it you will only be dissapointed if you have no arms to play with!!
