brandon - there is no timeline on the sequencer as it tends to actually cause timing problems with the sequencer due to the refresh rate needed. Hard to believe, maybe, but its true.

all hail the mecha godzilla!!! what a machine. This hyper integrated synthesis system produces rich program sounds. The manuals could be more simplistic, the sequencer section was slightly tough to learn, but maybe thats my own stupidity... Is it me or can nothing quite imitate a real Fender Rhodes? Thats why I still own mine and all my moogs, etc.- people, don't expect any synth to be able to replace a real instrument. ( guitars, saxes-PLEASE ) but these futuristic warm pads in the motion synth category- beautiful. This is the best keyboard that Iv'e EVER owned. Thank u Korg I learn more everytime I use it. PEACE

Brandon a part-time user from USA writes:
Bought this thing a few months back for an all-in-one portable MIDI solution. Pros- GREAT sounds. Huge variety from just the presets. But creating your own is where the real fun begins. Lots of extensive (mindracking) editing options. Good sampler, if they add resampling it will be a VERY good sampler. Cons- Sequencer is pretty good for recording ARPS and short patterns but WHERE'S THE TIMELINE???? Seems kinda rediculous not to have one with a screen that big. How else are you supposed to know where one track ends and another begins? I guess you could write it all down on paper (NOT!). Only other gripe is the complexity of the manual. Seems like it could have been layed out alot simpler. A few O.S. revisions (and another manual) and Korg will have one heck of a machine.

I love this machine, and for now it has effectively replaced all my other machines. What I can't duplicate directly through the PCM or MOSS synthesis, I can sample it quickly and easily. It sounds great! And for the most part, it is easy to use. HOWEVER, beware of the dreaded manuals, which are specifically designed to get you hooked on crack. They are truly terrible and are no help unless you've already figured out how to use the thing. Best bet is to buy the machine, use it, look at the manual for a laugh, then consult others in a mailing list forum, and hope for that next OS upgrade where resampling and a host of other obvious design blunders are SURE to be ironed out. But seriously, this thing is new, you know, and it is extremely ambitious in the breadth of features it intends to incorporate. So there are bound to be flaws. If everyone just keeps bitching at Korg to improve this thing, perhaps we'll have a truly satisfying, deep yet easy to use workstation, here.

mr. cool a part-time user from usa writes:
First off, I hated Korg products between the wavestation sr years to the beautiful and indomitable Z1. The z1 was discontinued so I tried the Triton thrice before breaking down and buying it.

The only reason I bought this keyboard was bang for the buck with ext. audio ins, sampling and the ability to make your own arp patterns (even though I play well enough to never need arpeggiators but I'm sure I'll fool around with them in the not too distant future). I've had it for a few months now and everything is exceptional except for the non-swing quantize option and there doesn't seem to be an undo function on the sequencer(!?!).

Other than that, it's a most excellent piece of equipment and should be the bench mark for future workstations from other companies. To the lack of support comment preceeding this post, I say if your looking for new sounds then sample some from the net/records, doll em up in a wave editor, drop it on disk and load 'em into the triton. Perhaps, get the Moss board for more sound options or the expansion boards. The architecture is fairly open ended and the sampling alone safeguards against the inevitable 'obselete' syndrome I dread when making a purchase of this nature. Thus, rendering those other VAs useless, dated, ineffective cash guzzlers down the road. The efx are good and the master efx aren't just stuck on Chorus and Reverb. What more do you want?

The only thing I can think of to include in the v2.1 update would be 3 dimensional sound, granular synthesis, or perhaps jpg to sound conversion software. In my humble opinion there is nothing else to be done except for adding 5 efx for all 16 tracks respectfully and internal resampling.

Kudos, applause and accolades to Korg for a job well.
