I got this one together with my 303 and as for just playing around it's pretty crappy. But you can run the demo of a sound and start tweaking those knobs and then you're getting into business. Trying to get it into a neutral sound to work from is a mess, but once you get it there you have so much possibilities ahead of you that you could go on all day long. I like this machine, because when you get the hang of it you can get so much nice sounds out of it. And with a real 303 you don't have to stick with using it as a 303 clone, because there is so much more to this little box!

I had a superbasstation too, great sounds but it locked often, (crash) other than that it was analog dream, though I was able to hear zipping noises while using some of the knobs, they sounded as if they were digital, i'm not sure if they are though. Alva

I picked up one of these used for a pretty good price. The SBS sounds great. It'll do everything from 303 sounds to weird percussion. I love all the midi control knobs. I agree with everybody else on the user interface. I'm always having to refer to the manual to figure out the two digit display. If you're patient you shouldn't have too much of a problem. I use it on most of my tracks.
Pros: Great sounds, highly tweakable, analog Cons: crappy UI, monophonic, occasionally locks up (at least mine does, anybody know why?)

It sounds absolutely great for basses and leads, as every user knows : Great sync to Midi (lfo + arpegiator) But the effects are noisy when no note is played. Phaser is the worst. I personally use a multi-effect dedicated to it. Perfect couple with the Nova which I love. It has its own caracter compared to Nord Modular which is also an awsome kicking machine. For the price, I really like the S-B-S (Not the Swiss Bank - Swiss will understand). I would buy another one. I don't know how the Waldorf Pulse sounds compared to SBS ; who could advise ?

This Box is great. If you wanna make your own bass sounds then this is the one to buy. You'll have to take time out to program it but the results are great. The interface is a little poor but thats it's only fault.
Forget the 303. This is so much better and you could use it for leads and stuff also !!!
