The M-1000 is so dope. And when you midi two together hold on to your butts. I got a sweet programmer from this guy in the Netherlands and now editing is possible. It's not as spacious as my OB-8 but it has it's own character and a genuine Oberheim tone, I think it's in the filters or maybe not. Whatever it is I like it. I want another one real bad. What can I say they're cheap and you can always find one on Ebay. Great for any kind of music, even country, well I don,t know that for sure but it could be!!!

I bought and sold one several years ago when I had tons of synths sitting in my room and didn't really give this a proper go. I've just re-acquired one (now have much less gear so I can give it the proper attention) and I'm glad I was able to find one in such good shape.

Agreed with many here on the presets. The vast majority of them are things I have no use for, but there are still lots of sounds to work with and 200 slots for sounds I'm going to tweak and save. It does have some of that Obie character (I owned an OB8) that some of us long for and that a lot of first-generation VA's can't replicate. That's not a knock on VA's (as I like some of them), it's just the impression that my ears gave me. What I like about the M-1000 is that it sounds so direct and solid in terms of overall character. In the short time with it, I find myself going back to the ethereal vocal pads, square wave beds, strings, and darker comps. For what you get in this little box, it's hard to beat for the money.

Hyboid a hobbyist user from Germany writes:
Great for deep punchy basses and fat pads. A bit limited due to the fact that theres only a 24dB lowpass. PWM is very smooth, no zipper noise. Watch out for the Curtis CEM 3396 chips when you buy one, they frequently fail. Just check if all 6 voices are operational.

Mark O a part-time user from UK writes:
Been through most of the VA's - JP8000, Supernova2, Nord 3 and purely on sound alone this module beats them all. There's something exciting and real about the sound that only genuine analog can create. You don't need tons of FX, it sounds quality as it is. Nice, clean n warm. I was hoping it had the classic Oberheim character and it DOES. OK maybe an OBXa may sound better (I presume as it uses VCO's) but make no mistake this sounds definitely Oberheim and pound for pound a great deal. So good in fact I want another for 12 voices. It's a great sounding module and very flexible routing. Can't believe I didn't get one years ago!
