You can set the knobs on the Sirius so they don`t jump to the preset value.I think the setting is in the system menu and it called PORI SNAP, this should be set to on I think.This is from memory as I sold my Sirius but the setting is definately there.When set correctly the knobs will not alter the sound until they are in a position relative to the preset value.

There is no doubt that the Sirius leaves most similair devices on the field behind. The sound engine is quite powerful and flexible; it delivers those phatt bass and lead sounds, but is good for more experimental stuff too. The polzphony is enough, taking into account that you have drum section plus three polzphonic sequencer tracks. The vocoder is one of the best devices of its kind, clearlz excelling the MAM, and fortunately you can plug in external analyze and carrier signals or use the included mike. The arpeggiator is quite powerful, and so is the pattern-oriented sequencer. Many of the features of the device are optimized for a live context, and this is one of the major areas of use the Sirius will find, the other being as a stand-alone techno/electro workstation. On the cons side: the many knobs are not endless controllers a la Waldorf, so you either get irritating aprupt changes in sound when turning them (especially annoying in a live context), or you have to turn them one way right and left to "sync" them with the current vaule of the parameter controlled (configurable). The display is a green LC display, and thus not very informative. The lots of illuminated buttons somehow make up for it, though. The internal effects are completely crap. The sequencer doesn't offer the possibility to record controller changes alongside of a complete song (like i.e. Steinberg Rebirth), so you're normally limited to the filter sweeps et al. which were recorded with your patterns. All in all, a good deal for the money (paid 1000DM ~500USD for it). I use it in conjunction with EMU ESi-32,EMax II, Korg Prophecy, Sony GR-MP5, Lexicon Vortex and a Mackie 1202 Pro VLZ for live-oriented improvisational DnB/Jazz, and in this musical and equipment context the Sirius really fills in great.

The Sirius is an excellent tool for making original music, I don't care what the genre. I blew the dust off my Tr-909 and traded it for the Sirius. And I have no doubts that I got the best end of the deal. I've used Korg Trinity's (I've owned two!), Kurzweil K2000 and K2500's. Roland Xp-80....JP-8000...Jp106. Emu samplers... I can create more, original ideas on this board than I could on all the others, in much less time. What more can you ask of a tool. If you don't like the sounds, change 'em, roll your own. Find the patterns not sutiable, write new ones. It's that simple. And the more I use the vocoder, the more I realize what a beast it is. I did replace the original mic with a $40 Radio Shack one that seems much better at rejecting feedback, although just the right touch of feedback is cool for some things. BTW: I occassionally take old rock'n'roll standards from the 60's and 70'and twist the hell out of 'em. The Sirius works wonderfully for that too. The depth one can go with this beasty is astounding. I don't expect any one person to have all aspects of the Sirius mastered for quite some time. But I'm sure enjoyin' the ride and the scenery is great...;-)

Well, two weeks ago I�ve got this synth. Yep, I have been waiting till the price for this gear decreased.... I�ve payed about 1.490DM.
Its a very good synth if you like this pattern concept and if you like VA synth sounds. What I�m missing is a download section on Quasimidi homepage for patterns, motivs and sounds.
Very amazing is the random function for patterns and sounds. It�s very easy to create new sounds....
Finally: its absolutely worth to buy.

Oh, I went through JX305,Mc505 and RM1x and many others, but ended up on a Sirius... Grrrreat sounds, great drums, medium on-board effects... Only hard part was the Seq, but can be learnt. Original mike was a piece of crap, though.
