I just bought one from Malaysia RM1400. that is $360. for a second hand. I recently download some of the patches from internet and it's good especialy the Rhodes.

There seems to be no separate section for reviewing the D-550, so I guess I'll have to put it here...

It's a nice module. Great pad/string-type sounds with a surprisingly warm feel and that "buzz" you can only get from early additive synths 8^P...

I am reluctantly selling mine, but only because I've determined that I can get similar sounds and sound quality by layering my MKS-70 and K1m together... the K1m has pretty much the same voice structure as the D-550, minus the filters and a few modulation options (and of course the effects). It covers the additive "buzz" factor while the MKS-70 fills out the bottom end and lushness factors.

If I weren't trying to avoid redundancy in my synth rack while beefing up my effects rack, I would keep the D-550. As I said, it is a nice synth - sounds good and is fairly easy to edit with Sound Diver... no complaints. It still comes highly recommended. In fact, once my current priorities are taken care of, I dare say I'll probably even hunt down another D-550.

Even today I still impressed by my D-50... I've heard alot of synth and there're still some sounds that D-50 capable of produced cannot be matched my others. I still never even use the presets... I programe my own sounds with it and it really show its power. never would even ashame to use this old synth in the stage.... put it above my TRINITY or XP-80 and make other people envy by the amazing leads, stabsand pads the D-50 can produce. Its build very ruged and very Goodlookin'! there're not too many true synth could amazed player/keybordist and becoming classic and the D-50 is definetly one of it... what an awesome synth!

Jace a hobbyist user from Australia writes:
This has to be one of the better synths in my collection. It's a bugger to program at first, even if you have a pg1000, but once you master it you will create sounds that induce hypnosis! I paid $575(AUS) for a second hand D550 module and this included a pg1000, 4 rom cards and a ram card. Absolute bargain! Like many have said, don't expect great piano patches, but for cataclismic pad sounds, stabbing leads, fat bounding analogue strings, this unit is unbeatable. The only drawback is it's not multitimbral as standard.

Hi there... someone was kind enough to do a PDF copy of the manual (somewhere), so I put it on my site. Here's the link:
