Once, I have a jx305, but sold it. The modulation spak dont worked. Then, I heard it have some bugs too wiht midi sendings.

It is an interesting machine. But you can make an equally interesting machine by getting an ALESIS QS6.1 and putting a techno card into it. Woala. This alesis has 4 independently effect processors, 305 has only one. You can put new sounds in this alesis from your computer/card. The midi functions must be great becouse this is an update of a quite old synt, so all bugs are gone. You have a midi card inside alesis, so you dont need midi card in your computer. Alesis dont have a sequencer, but you can make things better on a computer!

Actually, I liked the 305 synth. Great all in one. Great sounds. But I never have a midi card in my computer, so I dont know how it is to use its midi. There is system upgrades for the 305, sys 1.06, that may fix some bugs.

The problem is that it was hard to make some music with the build in sequencer. But I made some great patterns. The big advantage of 305 is that all its cabability is easy to use, all cnobs are great, real time. So, maybe it is a great synth anyway.

Scott Nelsen a part-timer user from USA writes:
Great synth! Very easy to use right out of the box. The factory sounds are outstanding and it is very simple to either edit those sounds or create your own. Sequencer section very intuitive - you can edit the factory patterns or create your own within minutes of cracking the box open. One drawback is that the unit sends and receives on 8 midi channels. Tracks 1-7 on the sequencer tx/rx on their respective midi channels and track 8 (rhythm track) tx/rx on channel 10. There is no way to change this (fortunately they tell you in bold face in the manual to save a tech support call). The only other drawback is that the sequencer is pattern-based (which is perfect for doing the "dj" type stuff for which the jx-305 was created). However, if you wish to do something linear and non-repetitive (maybe a jazz number and improv the piano over the entire piece), you must create either one very long pattern or several small patterns and create a "song" - a process which ultimately hampers the jx-305's ease of use. If not for these two small drawbacks, it would have received 5 stars rather than 4.
