What the hell is with these people "Remeber when all Liam used on stage was W-30's", Blah, Blah, Blah...
The sampler on this is out of date, maybe good for gritty voice samples or whatever else. THis is my current sequencer I use on stage. I dont use it at home, hardware sequencers just take to long. But I do use it cause of its nice timing, easy loading, etc.. I use the sampler sometimes for little voice loops, on stage you cant tell the diff in the sampling rate anyway (you hardly can tell on cd) . I got mine for $150, Lucky me.
Its easy to use also, just toy with it a few days.

This thing is great. Nice gritty filters, great sequencer. Use it as a pro sequencer and a hobby sampler. Great live tool. I picked both of mine up for around $400 each.

It's a decent 12 bit sampler with a nice sequencer, but don't pay more than $400 for one, they're getting long in the tooth and there's newer samplers in the used market that far exceed its capabilities at the same price. I'm sick of seeing people ripping off kids. "Roland W30 SUPER SAMPLER! For $700, YOU TOO CAN BE THE PRODIGY!"

Early-nineties Roland 'sampling workstation' keyboard, essentially the sequencer guts of the D-20 allied to a simple period sampler. It's 12-bit, although this gives it a nice grainy quality. Apparently a favourite of Liam Howlett, who ignored the sampling section and used it entirely as a MIDI sequencer and master keyboard. It's a great idea, although unfortunately they are still quite expensive second-hand. The S-50 seems to be much the same, although I'm not sure if the latter has a sequencer.
