What a cool machine! So I bought two. Forget about the limited sampletime, no problem if you use the W-30 in a smart way. Especially great for drum-samples and bass-samples. Even the internal bass-sounds are very useful if you tweak a little with the parameters. Nice filters also, especially when used on drumloops. Okay, the DD-disks are a little out of date, but that's easily compensated by the great user-interface and the 8 multi-outputs (which I all use!) Like some of the others who reviewed the W-30, I would NEVER ever sell or give away my W-30's, even when would have the biggest, fattest Akai or anything.

I have had my W30 for 10 years and I am finally getting back into recording. I can't believe all the stuff out here for this machine! I have never used the SCSI hookup and would like to figure out how to do so. Also, I see that some people are looking for Hard drives...where cna I gaet one? ALSO (tons of questions), how do I get the latest system version and sampled sounds off the web onto disk that is properly formatted?
Thanks for any help you can give...I really love this machine and it seems that there is enough stuff out there for it to keep it running!!!

xelent!!! the heart of my rig, althuogh the voice sect is supposedly only available through sysex you can do some pretty nice to outrageous sounds by manipulation of "channel aftertouch" ext: cake,cub logic etc. because 12 bit sampling is grungy you can produce a lot of sounds quite unlike pc or upper echelon samplers cleaning k/board contacts is a hassle done mine 6 times in 8 yrs

Well, I've had my little baby for ten years or so now, and I have to say that it's the heart of my studio. Yeah, okay, 12-bit samples. So? Who the flip can tell anyhow? Especially with FX on top. Perfectly fine if you ask me! And the sequencer is the only sequencer I use, which is not that often. But I have never had to buy any other sequencer hard/software. I have Cakewalk, but I can't see the point of fannying about with my PC when I can turn on the W30 and go! In ten years, had no probs at all, save for one key that just recently has gone mute. And what a great keyboard anyhow...like the man said, a cheap Fatar. Wouldn't sell it, wouldn't give it away. Would like longer sample time tho', and no-one seems to make the kit to expand it anymore...ho hum. Deffo 5/5, and I've seen a lot of kit in my time!

I've used my machine in live since 1991, and it's completely reliable and it has never let me down.
I use it for live percussion and loops, as my synths never quite have the "bite" that this machine offers for percussion/drum sounds. I'd never sell it, although I'd like another eventually.
