Very nice workstation. Sequencer is easy to use. Interface is also user-friendly. Plenty of native sounds to use + expansion boards makes the XP-50 still a good choice. I agree with a previous writer; the XP-50 plus a Triton and you will be in heaven!!

This unit deserves a better ratings. One of the best synths of the mid 90's, and still amazes me.

ONE OF THE BEST SYNTHS THAT I'VE OWNED. IN FACT (CIRQUE DU SOLEI) USES TWO ROLAND XP-50 AND ONE ROLAND XP-80, DRUMS IN THIS UNIT ARE

a competent modern sounding synth worth 4.5 marks. Giving less is stupid. Good spec, good rom and a good keyboard action. If you like analogue or whatever than it's not for you. If you are a musician it is a fine unit. Just the 80 without the sequencer. Something of an industry standard. Loads about but holding their price. A great all rounder soundwise. Friendly to pcs. What more could you want? I'll round up to 5.
