This is not a synth that does it all, it's quite limited because of the simple voice architecture, but it can do stuff no other analog synths can.
The envelopes are very versatile, they have an extra stage and is very programmable, you can assign them to virtually anything including pitch and VCF, and you can set the envelope time from inaudibly fast till very slow.
Same goes for the LFO, never heard a slower LFO on a hardware synth in my life, I haven't timed it yet but I guess it can take up to a minute to complete one cycle.
It seems like Roland made a very 'cheap' synth, turned into something special by the Roland programmers, they really put almost any feature possible with such a limited design into it.
I'm looking for a new synth because an Alpha Juno really isn't enough, maybe I'm too spoiled with all those great softsynths I don't know, but I won't sell it, it can do things no other synth can do.

I got this cool little synth about 9 months ago in a pawn shop for 150 bucks out the door. I had to get a power cable with 2 prongs though..no biggie.
well after having it for a good time..i can really say that i love this thing. I dont have any other analogs other than a Matrix 6..that guy is broken right now..so for now the alpha juno is my baby. I use it almost extensively in my band..with an xp60 for ambient type stuff and some pads..but the alpha juno kicks out some sick ass leads and pads. im extremely happy with it. I can pick the pg300 anyday i want as a local store has it still in the box, freshly wrapped. but for now the programming is very easy. yea its only got one timbre..but hey its a damn good timbre..people pay 1000 dollars for Moog monosynths...and yea they are awesome..but i think the alpha kicks serious butt for being such a little guy...not saying its comparable to Moog, but for 150 bucks..i dont give a shit.

Just got my Juno-1 for $160! This thing sounds better than Buzz Tracker Synths (although it doesn't have effects.)
It also is not touch/velocity sensitive, but with all of these controls and foot controller inputs, who cares ?!?!!!!
I've owned racks of "real" synths in the past before converting to VST/DX/Buzz/Reactor synths, and I must say that for such a small keyboard this thing fills the gap very nicely.

I've bought my Alpha Juno1 yesterday and i must say, that this Synth is the best i ever heard, because i was searching a long time for this phatt "Hoover-Sound" The Juno is really very easy to use, because even i understand this Synth from the first minute on. This is my best buy i've ever made in my life :-) 220$ are very okay for this fantastic Synthesizer! Have Fun with it! Greetz @ all Juno-Users :o) Cu, Mike
