This synth produces some beautiful sounds !! Great basses, great sfx and analog strings to say the least. The sound it produces is unique, some patches sound 80s, but tweaking the synth will produce timeless and VERY usable patches. It sounds good live along side my Korg Trinity and Nord Lead especially running raw and unprocessed through fx. I wouldnt consider the filter as top quality (its kind of weak ) but everything else makes up for it.

Very Cool and totally worth it !

Absolutely my man, the alphajay is a class piece.

I like the fact that so many people disregard this board cos it don`t have knobs like a "proper" analogue and it looks like a DX - that just means all of us that know the coup can still pick them up at an affordable price and have access to that fairly warm yet brooding and sinister sound that the alpha gives us.

An unsung classic - and long shall she remain so.

And don't forget its wonderful DCO section! Have you ever seen so much option for a DCO??

Jason Johnson a part-time user from USA writes:
There seems to be a real dichotomy to the reviews about this synth, everyone either loves it or hates it. Well, I'd have to say that I agree more with the fanatical devotees. I've never found it to be terribly cold and brittle sounding, and I use it on almost every song, and it always shows up in the mix. Sure it has no knobs, save the alpha dial, but it's still crackers to program. If you want knobs there's always the pg300. But it's easy to get by without. I've managed to get some amazing pads and sweeps that I've never heard on other synths, and that's whats important- a unique character. This is largely due to it's envelope section which is more complex than most synths. Check it out, and if you can get one for less than $200, then by all means- PICK IT UP!!
