any gear lends itself to experimentation and creativity but only in the right hands....and if you know how to work with external fx, you can do a lot with the MC-303 --lot of power in a small box --peace

speaking as a person that is too familiar with the mc 303 i can say after delving as "Deep" into this thing as possible that it is less than a good machine. the sequencer memory is horrible, so you wont be able to write too many songs on it making this pretty much useful only to those that enjoy using preset patterns. it is near impossible to run off of an external sequencer and why would you even want to, the sounds contained within are very generic.. thin and corny would be a good way of describing them. there are much better machines than this out there. this is not a tool for any sort of serious live preforming other than as a drum machine.. and it serves poorly even as just that. it is fun for a while, and it does provide instant gratification.. yet it does not allow much opportunity for you to get creative. ive had one for two years and ive simply given up on it. some might say it is a good beginners tool.. but if you are a beginner this is a poor way of starting out. to everyone out there that has one of these and likes it more power to you. but the fact is that there are much better functioning and most importantly better sounding machines out there. this is a synth that does not lend itself to experimentation or creativity

Yes, Nork, you are right on!! This machine is WAY underrated. The MC-303 does so much more than most people realize. I sold mine last year because I have so many other machines I thought I wouldnt miss it at all, but I just got another one last month cuz I missed my old MC-303. Now Im very glad to have one again. I use it for mostly bass and drum patterns, for which it is excellent, and I get a lot of other great sounds out of it for use in my tracks. I own the MC-505 and the RM1x too, but I still love my MC-303. With the 3 of them going together, I can get people dancing for hours upon hours. IMHO the MC-303 is BY FAR one of the best purchases you can make. Fantastic value in this machine and yes, I also think it will be a classic for sure.

I have used a lot of machines and I�m not agree with the cost of some, for example Supernova, but if you want a new machine, you must pay a new price. As I said before I have had a lot og machines, Roland Jv-xxxx, Jp8080, Jx305, Virus, Xp30, juno 106, moogs, etc... and really, they are great machines but I only used one or two sounds and I didn�t want to lost my money in those machines wich I don�t use very much, for this reason, now I have only a Korg Triton with Moss and Scsi and a Mc-303... also a Pulsar II... well, I know that mc303 is very difficult for implement with midi, but there is a lot of information and files for it in internet which is more easy to use it. It�s not a SUCK machine, as somebody told some messages ago, with the price you pay for this machine now, you get a niiiice piece of art, why do you say no???.. this machine was used for a lot of recognized groups, for example prodigy, so I don�t understand the opinion of very much dudes here!!!... if you�ll read the manual and investigate on internet before to cataloge it, you�ll see that you was wrong... Mc-303 museum piece!

this machine SUCKS. to think that this thing has potential if you spend alot of time trying to get "deep inside" it to get some phat grooves going is laughable. get an rm1x and save yourself from wasting time and money. i paid more for the MasterCrap303 when it was released than a month ago on the rm1x. if the 303 is only good for drums, then why by it if it boasts about being an all-in-one box? spend your hard-earned money on something that does strictly drums or bass, etc...
