polyecho: what I meant is that most user do use only the patterns, they all start to sound the same.My comments were aimed mainly at the MC-303. I agreed with you as the MC505 has the same synth engine as my JV2080. It isn't economical for me, as I would be limited in what I could do with it. I'd have to go out, and buy more stuff. My modular setup give me more flexibility. Again, with it you can do more with it than the MC-303, or MC-505, with any modular setup, an individual will have more flexibility. Most users of these boxes start to sound the same. I don't need a groovebox, as I can do anything they can do. I'd recoomend a keyboard worksatation, or modular setup to anyone who really wants versatility, and freedom.

..and you get what you pay for. Why don't you use it anymore? I didn't compare it to an AN1X, I compared it to me having 2 synths, a sampler, and a software sequencer. And yes, my setup will/can wipe the floor with any Grooveplop sonically. By the way, I'd like to stress this: I don't play groove boxes,drum machines, or like to play with knobs. I play keyboards! <bagrin> So maybe that's the differenc. I play. I don't push play! <Lol>

Sure, you can mess with the patches a bit, and you can create varioations, but its all just screwing with samples, shich is the same as the 303, just a bit more in depth. The 303 is mainly strang when used as a SEQUENCER, and I dont know what you're talking about regarding it being for ppl who dont want to sequence patterns, its one of the best 16 step style sequencers out there. Sure, the sounds arent that great, but where are you going to find an 8 track seq/Tone Module/Drum Machine for under $400 that allows this kind of real-time control. Mind you, I don't use mine anymore, but you cannot compare this synth to an AN1X, that's just stupid.

Most users on the MC-505 list don't even want the 505 to have any preset patterns on board. The 505 is surely a more economical choice than having many synths, a computer, a software sequencer, etc. Not to mention the portability and ease of data backup. If you are still in doubt, check out their work at www.coolcoolcool.com/mc505/. Just to stay on topic. MC-303 is limited.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. By the way the The MC-505 GROOVEPLOP, has the same identical synth engine as the JV1080. I agree with Fritzie, that the grooveplops are for lazy people who can't or won't program their own patterns into a sequencer. With my JV2080(tecno expansion board/60's & 70's board), AN1X, YAMAHA A3000, and Cakewalk, I can kick any "grooveplop's" ass!! Granted, I will spend some time getting it together, but HEY, I won't sound like everyone else!!!!! Ha ha ha!! Teh heh!
