I'm sick of playing guitars & pianos.Took a break & bought one of these cool toys which is really hot these days.More bang for the buck than most machines. I got one when it came out and still use it. The sounds aren't excellent but i learned to make the best out of it. The approach i suggest to techno music is to get less gear and know your gear better. Knowing this box pays off. Definitely recommended to beginners. Weird interface at first but works so well once you know it. All you need to start making electronic music. Notice i said *start*. Very good box for the price, expect miracles!

Hi!This is Linkinpark......My modular setup give me more flexibility. Again, with it you can do more with it than the MC-303, or MC-505, with any modular setup, an individual will have more flexibility. Most users of these boxes start to sound the same. I don't need a groovebox, as I can do anything they can do. I'd recoomend a keyboard workstation, or modular setup to anyone who really wants versatility, and freedom

Sounds nothing like a TB-303 (get ReBirth for that..), can only use midi when in sound module mode, which turns all knobs off. Basses are crap, very thin unlike DX100's solid bass. Lead sounds aren't to bad. Bought mine new last August for 510. Like many others I have a long wish list of features for the next MC-x0x, although Roland have obviously listened to those who asked for an "MC-909" as they have just announced the MC-505. Check out www.teknet.ch/tb303.htm for pics of MC-505, or email me and I'll send you some.

I use the MC-303 and the MC-505 in my studio and they are both indespensable to me. They are major workhorses & very creative tools. ps--I also have a roomful of other gear to use, but these boxes get lots of use!!

Great sketch pad/sequencer/and a fine drum machine to boot. PCM is a little blah and sounds will get kind of muddy if you use all 8 tracks, but for the money its a real bargain.. 4 marks, 1 off for sound quality. Maybe it is not the best piece of equipment around, but it's cheap, and playing with it is certainly more fun than just watching the telly.
