Absolutely the greatest monosynth of alltime. For bass it out basses a moog. And the leads and effects you can get are crazy. Definitely worth the 5 or 600 dollars they go for. Especially if you can get one with midi.

Just picked up one of these at a good price (US$ 490) and it was in practically mint condition. Not one negative review on here, and I can see why. The curtis VCOs are the same as on the Rev3 Prophet 5; in fact, this synth is exactly one voice of that legendary polysynth. While I'd have to agree about the case construction and keybed being on the shoddy side, once you hook it up to your PA systema and start playing it, you'll forget all about that. Light as a feather compared to other monosynths, and very versatile with the whole PolyMod section from the P5. The filter easily self-oscillates with the res turned up to only 6 or 7. Imagine what a res of 9 or 10 whould do? I wan't about to risk blowing my speakers trying it!! Sonically it's right up there with the Minimoog, Odyssey, SH-5, and Octave Cat. Perhaps even more versatile than those. Lack of patch memory? That's not what this synth is about. Once you get used to its architecture, you'll be dialing up your favorite sounds in no time. It's all about tweaking away while pumping out thumping bass lines or screaming leads. Knobs control circuits directly, no microprocessors involved at all, so the cutoff knob sweeps with absolutely no stepping of any kind. If you want a real analog monosynth and can't afford to shell out for a Mini or an Odyssey, this is the one to get!

amen to that. the pro1 is an awesome machine. nowadays with cheap midi retrofits, its an even better deal (as calyx points out) because you don't have to suffer the horrible keyboard. a wonderful sonic toy, no studio or electrogeek should be without one.

The best monosynth ever. Even with it's flimsy-feeling construction. It's easy to add a MIDI in, so don't worry about the crappy keyboard (which isn't as bad as some people make it out to be anyways).

The Pro-One is definetely worth to have as an all around tool if you are into electronic music, It can do almost everything... and IF you get tired just run some loops trought its Filter Input. Nice bass sounds and leads, perfect for fx and weird analog bleeps. I had an SH-101 and a Minimoog and sincerely when I had to grab a monosynth again I was gonna go for the SH-101 again, the Moog is good I dont disagree but it has been used as hell and the sound if you are actually making new stuff is outdated, then I stumble across a Pro-One and I spended some 30 minutes playing it and no doubt this is a bargain it can do three to five times more than an SH-101 and a Moog (wich is only hyped more than anything). Go for a Pro-One you wont be disapointed.
