Had this unit 4 years ago for about 6 months.

It is quite a powerful unit, but it always feels to me like a fancy distortion box than just a filter.

It always makes a very certain type of groove, almost an over the top old school tresor techno sound, very crunchy, but almost always a little TOO crunchy.

Maybe there are more subtle applications, but for the same money, get two boxes, such as a moog box and one of those jomox resonator thingies.

Hot damn. This box is the definition of SLAMMIN'. Endless applications. I've had the thing for only a few days now and I'm having trouble deciding just how to integrate it...so many possibilities! So far I've put it in my live setup as a mixer send. When I patch my ESX-1 through it I can get ANY and EVERY hard techno/house groove known to man - from Beltram to Mills to Surgeon and back again...the simpler the sound you put in, I find, the better the result. No joke, I was at least an hour having a blast with no more than a dead simple 1-2-3-4 kickdrum pattern. It's ridiculousness made real. What a great way to get going with modular!

This is a fun and mean filter but to be honest its a bit over rated. Not as fat as I thought it would be when I bought it (got the FB2!). The new Jomox "M Resonator" sounds like it and is $300 cheaper! The sounds demo's on the Sherman site were recorded with effects of reverb and 2 filterbanks- Herman even admited it! Its a good filter but not at THAT price. Hold on to your money and try to buy an MS-20 if you can and run stuff through that! Ive never bashed any piece of gear in my life and Im not bashing this product; Im just telling it like it is!

This machine is the best sounding filter ever...brings life to all your boring pads loops etc...great fun to use. Once I played it I was hooked because the filters just sound so amazing, real analog, real beast!!!

Words cannot give enough justice.. I can tell this is a must have, this is the best piece of outboard you'll ever find, the best filter ever, damn, it's the reincarnation of Lucifer!! But..just listen to it once and you immediatly know what I try to explain..but only do it when you've got the money to spend, 'cos you gonna buy it for sure!
