Compared to the XT the MW1 sounds not so harsh and digital because of the analog filter. IMO the analog filters give much more deepness to the sound and make it live. the xt or MW2 is surely better when you prefer the harder, needle-type sound. my waldorf wave sounds very close to a MW1 (when you forget these extra possibilities and filter-types), but the MW1 has even more in the low-end. if you are a access virus user there is a template which turns the virus in an access MW1 controller!!!

If you have a W1 and MKS80 synths in your arsenal then you won't need anything else, with these two monsters; there's nothing you can't do when it comes to creating sounds. They both sit perfect in a track. uW1 has the sweetest sounding analog filters. It is capable of lush string sounds and at the same time razor sharp icy sounds. And all the routing capabilities. If you can get all the ROM cards (as I was lucky enough to find) for it then you'll be in a wavetable heaven. I also use the editor from "itelios.com" which is not there anymore. I also have the uW2. But these two synths are completely different sounding. If you see one then get it. Make sure it's rev 2.0

Ow, this one is so very cool. When I bought it, I espected to have something very special. But when I heard the presets and tried to edit them, it was quite disappointed. I just didn't love it. That interface... I started to use it in my songs (my first multitimbral unit) because I had to and the sounds it created were ok, but still I wanted to sell it because of...that interface... Because nobody wanted it for the price I had bought it, so i kept it. Suddenly I saw that wicked Acces programmer for sale and jumped on it... Since then, the MW lived up. I still use it in every songs and it still surprises me for the infiniteness of sounds you can create with it. It has both warmte and glassyness in the sound. That programmer did wonders to me. Leads, basses, bells, all warm and digital, it's impressively beatiful...
Yeah, just get it and work it.

What an awesome synth!!!!! It's definitely got that PPG sound!!! I love it!!! It is capable of very fat analog basses and all kinds of odd sounds....... only bad thing about it is the # of voices (8) and user wavetables (24 with V 2.0). You can store 32 patches in bank "A" and 32 patches in bank "B". In multimode you can store up to 64 multi's as well... If you can find a storage card that's an additional 64 patch storage as well as 64 more multi's. I think it's a must have for those who like UniQue sounds!! :) A great addition to the Q!! :D I hope the next Waldorf synth has an analog filter like this one does!!!

i got a big red dial and the sharpest red led i ever seen!compared w/ the mk2 i tried at shop, the mk1 got more warm and analog sound, but on pads, the mk2 seems to have more digital cyclic wave changes, but i believe thos mk1 has the guts and can modify the sound more smooth and deep thru its excellent analog filter.
