Toms Mulcahy a professional user from Ireland writes:
I have two CS5s, a CS10 and a Cs01. I tried using the two CS5s as extra oscillators with the CS10, but the sound was much. It's much better with just the one extra oscillator!

The CS10 to my ears has a wider frequency range than the 5- so the bass end is much better. Even though the (unique) Yamaha filter odesn't self oscillate, when you turn up the resonance, you get MORE bass, not less as with everything else. Much more useful than self oscillation IMHO.

The envelopes are also faster on paper- they certainly sound that way. I have an utterly convincing nylon guitar patch. The filter envelope on the CS10 is unusual- it's "Initial level" "attack level" and ADR. This is great for twang and punch.

Look at it this way- the CS80 is one of the most desirable analogue polysynths, and this is very clost to one voicefrom it (if you have a second oscillator). Proof- I have some wonderful sampled pad sounds made by CS5 as second oscillator for CS10 and fed through Roland analogue chorus- very similar signal path to CS80, and sounds very organic and lush.

Question asker from neverneverland writes:
I have a CS-5 and a CS-15. Does the Cs-10 fit in between these two? The reviews for the Cs-10 seem to be better than the ones for the Cs-15 and the CS-5. Or could it be that cs-10 fans are just better fans? I am curious because until about 6 months ago I didn't even know about the CS series and am happy with the synth to cost ratio. They are kind of a secret until you show a picture to some one, then they want to play with the knobs. People love knobs. I shall live by these words. So how bout it? anyone up for the supercomparison? cs5 vs. cs10 vs. cs15

Barbara Colossus a hobbyist user from The Dominion Of Canada writes:
One day i found this little machine at flea's market for sale at the price of seventy five dollars. Boy oh boy, if you didn't get this one you would be crazy!! For fun and excitement and a real analogue synthesizer in your home you really can't go wrong. If you like the old style fun machines and you have found one and are wondering "should i buy it?" you should, trust me!! When you put a little reverb on it you can pretend (to both yourself and others) that it is polyphonic. Have a nice day.

Ryohei Kimura a hobbyist user from Japan writes:
I found it at my father's office.(he is not a musician) I asked him how he got it, but he said "I don't know."

anyway, I love this one. Especially filter. Let any sound go thru it,and you'll get nice warm sound.
