Ok, just got this a couple days ago for $270 and I'm VERY impressed. Great for sub bass and LFO tricks. It's also kinda interesting to run a drum loop through the trigger inputs and play with the filters. BTW I drew out a template to save patches on, so if anyone wants a copy just email me.

well,i've just joined the cs15 owner family.so i can say this is the great synth, good sound, tho thinner than the american big deep synths, but it got its own character,2vcos,2vcfs giving u more possibilities on sound programming,u can even treat it as a bi-timbral synth(2cv/gtae ins!)and the only drawback imo is lacking the hold switch of the eg as on the cs10,but its got 2 seperate inital level instead.but be careful to use this, and always turn them down if u only want a off-release sound, otherwise, the continous sound is quite annoying.

Hi guys! We love this synth to, as we do with most old school synths. But this is the greatest! See ya!

The Yamaha CS-15 is an amazingly flexible synth, and the controls are laid out very well. There are 2 oscillators, white noise, and external signal in. You can mix up to 4 signals, route them through 2 independant selectable HP/BP/LP filters, and 2 Amps. The LFO (sine/ramp/s&h) Can modulate the VCO's, VCA's, or VCF's. Osc 2 can be detuned, and the envelopes can be inverted.. In other words, prepare to spend HOURS with it! The sound is different than anything I have heard. The 3 independant performance controllers are quite fun as well, especially the Brilliance slider, which is basically cutoff for VCO 1, 2 or both! The external input is fantastic, and there are enough in's and out's to make this play nice with other gear. Though it will always stand out.

I've just bought one for 250$ and it's definitely worth the price! The sound is very rich compared to my SH 101( which i tought was sounding good...). The guy who sold it, was describing it as an antique synth with a very old fashionned sound, but after two days of tweaking I can say it's much more than that! The only thing I don't like is the lack of control on the keyboard action, the highest note has priority on the lowest, it's not a last note or first note priority, which can be quite confusing. The next step is to get a Kenton to be able to use it as a duophonic synth and to manage keyboard action.
If you can find one, don't hesitate.
