I've had a CS15 since 1982 (paid 250 for it second hand) and think it's an excellent synth for producing synthetic sounds. You can also get a good hammond lead sound by detuning the oscillators by a 5th, playing with filter 2 at high resonance to get the main sound and getting filter1/amp1 to provide the "key thump". In terms of synthesising natural sounds it's not so clever, but why do that?
I'm always finding new sounds within it. What amazed me when I brought it second hand was that the guy selling it was doing so but retaining a single oscillator Roland (SH-01 or 09 I think) just because he could drive it from a sequencer and he couldn't do that with the CS15(!). Personally, I think I got the bargain.
Sell it? Even though I'd now make a profit, never.

Of all of the synths I own I tend to spend my most time with this one (Yes I have a good piece of gear called a JD-800). For some reason I cannot get over using the input for something in just about every song I have written recently. The machine does have a very thick sound and I wouldn't trade it for that 303 thing any day (except that I could get 10 of these for trading the 303 to someone else). If you are in need of a little bassline machine and can handle the thought of playing it or paying for a MIDI-to-CV converter/analogue sequencer then GET IT. If you want to filter drum patterns, chords etc. through an analogue filter at a low price, this is your guy.

3-23-98 I bought my cs-15 two years ago and I must say that this synth is quite brilliant. The guy sold it to me asked for 400$ but i managed to lower it to 200$ i would say its absoloutly worth at least 500 buck$

I think this is more versatile than any other synth I have tried. Bass drum hihat rythum, everything. But whatever you do try , to also get a Kenton Pro 2000 as it controls it though midi. There are 2 channels of CV meaning one controls VCO1 the other one is VCO2. SO you could ever use both VCOs as one through midi as if you were playing the keyboard or use it as multitabral, with one scratchhy noise as pad and th other rythum. You must get. E mail me with any questions. I bought mine for 299 and it were worth it.
